Votto homers in 7th straight game, one shy of MLB record

Joey Votto has homered for the seventh straight game, putting the Cincinnati Reds star within one of the major league record

Jonathan Davis - Loses 40-man spot Davis was designated for assignment Friday.
Impact Davis has come to the plate 85 times at the big-league level this season but has done very little with those opportunities, homering just once while hitting .143/.282/.200. As a 29-year-old with a career .548 OPS, he's unlikely to be a particularly attractive option on waivers.

Kirby Snead - Optioned to minors Snead was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.
Impact Snead made his first two big-league appearances in the last two days, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings while striking out three and allowing two hits. Brad Hand, acquired from the Nationals on Thursday, was added to the roster in a corresponding move.

Marcus Wilson - Cast off 40-man roster Wilson was designated for assignment Friday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Impact Wilson began the 2021 campaign at Triple-A Worcester and slashed .244/.373/.456 with 10 homers, 34 runs, 30 RBI and 10 stolen bases across 63 games. The 24-year-old could remain in the organization if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

Hirokazu Sawamura - Reinstated from 10-day IL Sawamura (triceps) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Impact Sawamura tossed a perfect inning during a rehab appearance at Triple-A Worcester on Friday, and he'll return after spending the minimum amount of time on the IL. The right-hander allowed two runs on two hits and no walks while striking out one in one inning across three appearances since the All-Star break.

Jonathan Araúz - Called up Friday Arauz was recalled from Triple-A Worcester and is starting Friday's game against the Rays, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
Impact Arauz missed time with a left elbow injury in early July, but he returned to action July 13 and has hit .302 with two homers, eight runs, seven RBI and a stolen base in 13 games since then. He'll start at the hot corner and bat ninth with Rafael Devers (quadriceps) out of the lineup.
