Drives in winner vs. Guardians Kemp went 2-for-5 with a walkoff single, a run scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-3 victory over the Guardians.

Impact With the score tied at 3-3, Kemp slashed a single to right to score Ryan Noda in the bottom of the ninth and give the Guardians the win. The veteran infielder/outfielder also came around to score in the second after stealing his first base of the season. Kemp won't provide much power and plays in a lethargic lineup, but he should hit at the top of the group against right-handers and does provide some versatility on benches.

Impact Kemp has really struggled thus far this spring, so it's nice to see the 31-year-old have some success. Even with the knock, the left-handed hitter is slashing just .154/.361/.192 in his time in Arizona. Kemp is likely to hit at or near the top of the order against right-handers for the A's while likely moving to the bottom or out of the lineup altogether against southpaws.

Reaches deal for 2023 Kemp agreed to a one-year, $3.725 million contract with the A's on Friday to avoid arbitration, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Impact The 31-year-old made just over $1 million last season, and he'll more than triple that figure in 2023, which is his final year of arbitration eligibility. Kemp played in a career-high 147 games last year and had a .235/.307/.334 slash line with seven home runs, 46 RBI and 11 stolen bases.
