Sitting Saturday
Nido isn't in the Cubs' lineup for Saturday's game against Arizona.
Impact
The Cubs seem to have fallen into a pattern of alternating between Nido and Miguel Amaya behind the plate, and Saturday will mark Amaya's turn to start while he bats eighth.

Pops homer in win
Nido went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Cardinals.
Impact
This was Nido's first homer as a Cub after signing with the team June 19. The catcher has hit safely in five of his last seven games, generating three RBI in that span. For the season, he's at a .202/.229/.331 slash line with four homers, 12 RBI, 14 runs scored and four doubles across 133 plate appearances between the Cubs and the Mets.

Impact
Nido is absent from the starting lineup for the fourth time in six games, as the Cubs turn to Miguel Amaya behind the dish Saturday. Nido logged a hit in just one of his first 16 at-bats with the Cubs, but has since gone 4-for-18 with a pair of RBI and three runs.

Not starting Friday
Nido is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

Hitting bench Wednesday
Nido is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
Impact
Nido had started behind the plate in four of the past five games, but he'll cede catching duties to Miguel Amaya on Wednesday. Since signing with the Cubs on June 19, Nido has put together a .133/.156/.200 slash line with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate, so his hold on the No. 1 catcher's role may be tenuous.

Hitting bench Sunday
Nido is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
Impact
Miguel Amaya is behind the dish for Sunday's series finale, but Nido appears to have at least temporarily settled on top of the depth chart at catcher after he was initially part of a timeshare at the position upon signing with the Cubs on June 19. Nido had started each of the past three games, going 2-for-10 with a double, two runs and an RBI.

Released by Mets
The Mets released Nido on Monday, Jorge Castillo of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Nido cleared waivers after being designated for assignment and is now free to sign with another organization after the Mets cut him loose. The veteran catcher has a career .564 OPS over parts of eight major-league seasons but is viewed as a strong defender, so he could draw interest as a backup catcher elsewhere.

Swats third homer
Nido went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.
Impact
The backstop took Elieser Hernandez deep in the fifth inning to get the Mets on the board, but a late collapse by the bullpen led to a 10-3 loss. Nido is slashing .233/.260/.370 in the majors this year with three homers and seven RBI in 28 games, and with Francisco Alvarez (thumb) ready to begin a rehab assignment, the clock is ticking on his time in a prominent role for the Mets.

Resting Wednesday
Nido is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Impact
With the Mets wrapping up their series in Cleveland with a day game, Nido will receive a breather after catching eight innings of Tuesday's 7-6 loss. Omar Narvaez will spell Nido behind the plate Wednesday.

Outrighted to Triple-A
Nido was outrighted Friday to Triple-A Syracuse, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
Impact
Puma hears that Nido plans to accept the outright assignment if he is not traded. The 29-year-old catcher passed through waivers unclaimed after being designated for assignment by the Mets this past Monday. He's a career .213/.249/.308 hitter in 805 plate appearances at the MLB level.

Pushed off 40-man roster
The Mets designated Nido for assignment Monday.
Impact
The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster and 26-man active roster for fellow catcher Omar Narvaez (calf), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list prior to Tuesday's series opener in Atlanta. According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets are expected to find a taker for Nido via trade, but if a deal can't be finalized within the next few days, the veteran backstop will be exposed to waivers. The 29-year-old was hitting just .125 over 61 plate appearances on the season but was valued by the Mets for his defensive acumen.

DFA expected
Nido is expected to be designated for assignment to clear a spot on the 40-man and 26-man rosters for Omar Narvaez (calf), Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.
Impact
The Mets will go with Francisco Alvarez and Narvaez as their catching combination as Nido gets squeezed out of a job. Nido is regarded as a terrific defender, but that part of his game has taken a step back this season and he's been worse than ever as a hitter with a lowly .278 OPS. He'll go through the waiver process.

Activated from injured list
Nido (eye) was activated from the 10-day injured list Thursday.
Impact
Having solved his vision issues via punctal plugs and medicated eye drops, Nido is back on the Mets' active roster ahead of Thursday night's series finale at Wrigley Field. Gary Sanchez has been designated for assignment in a corresponding roster move, which pits Nido as the backup to hot-hitting catcher Francisco Alvarez.

Cleared for rehab assignment
Nido (eye) was cleared to begin a rehab assignment Friday with Single-A St. Lucie.
Impact
Nido was placed on the injured list May 10 due to lingering issues with dryness in both of his eyes, but that has been solved via punctal plugs and medicated eye drops. It's unclear how he'll eventually fit back into the mix at catcher with the Mets, who promoted Gary Sanchez on Friday to back up Francisco Alvarez.

Gets plugs for dry eyes
Nido recently had punctal plugs inserted into each of his eyes to help with his vision issues, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The plugs open his tear ducts and keep his eyes more naturally lubricated. Nido has also been prescribed medicated eye drops to aid in solving the dry eye syndrome that sent him to the injured list last week. He could be ready to return to the Mets relatively soon, though they might want to run with Francisco Alvarez and Michael Perez as their catching tandem for a while longer. Omar Narvaez (calf) will be back in the mix eventually too.
