Retreats to bench Saturday
Frazier is not in the starting nine Saturday night against the Rockies, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Frazier reportedly has been dealing with some minor soreness in his quad and approached Manager Chris Woodward to ask for an off-day. The soreness is nothing to be concerned about as Frazier also is just 1-for-9 lifetime against German Marquez and it may have been a matchup concern as well. Look for Frazier to return to the lineup Sunday afternoon in the series finale against the Rockies.

Plates two runs
Frazier went 1-for-4 with two RBI in Saturday's 7-3 loss against the Giants.
Impact
Frazier made the most of his lone hit in this game, smacking a single to right field that scored Elvis Andrus and Joey Gallo in the top of the first inning. That would be everything Frazier would accomplish, though, and this has been a slow start to the season for the 34-year-old. He has gone 5-for-23 (.217) in his first seven appearances.

Has trouble against lefties
Chafin (0-1) was credited with the loss to the Rangers on Wednesday when he gave up three runs on two hits and a walk without retiring a batter.
Impact
After racking up two holds in his first three appearances, the left-handed Chafin was brought in to protect another lead with dangerous lefties due up. However, he walked the first batter, Rougned Odor, then served up a game-tying home run to Joey Gallo. Under new rules, the reliever had to stay in the game to face a third batter, and Chafin gave up a double to Todd Frazier, who later came around to score.

Delivers three extra-base hits
Frazier went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI during Wednesday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact
The 34-year-old entered Wednesday's contest with one single through his first 14 plate appearances, so the barrage of extra-base hits was a welcome sight. Frazier should continue to see the bulk of his opportunities at first base with Isiah Kiner-Falefa off to a solid start at third base.

Returns to first base
Frazier started at first base and went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Impact
Frazier, who started the first game of the season at first base, had been covering third base while Isiah Kiner-Falefa dealt with a hamstring injury. With Kiner-Falefa returning from the injury Tuesday, Frazier was back at first base. That's expected to be Frazier's primary position in 2020, if Kiner-Falefa's bat holds up at the hot corner.

Returns as expected
Kiner-Falefa (hamstring) will bat ninth and play third base Tuesday against Arizona.
Impact
Kiner-Falefa was the team's Opening Day third baseman but missed the last two games with hamstring tightness. He returns as expected Tuesday, pushing Todd Frazier back to first base.

Enters lineup Saturday
Guzman started at first base and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Rockies.
Impact
Guzman, who lost the first base job in summer camp, made the start Saturday after Isiah Kiner-Falefa came up lame with a hamstring injury. Todd Frazier, who had started at first base in Friday's opener, moved to third base to cover for Kiner-Falefa.

Wins backup job at first base
Guzman will open the season as the Rangers' backup first baseman, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start at third base while Todd Frazier moves over to first base, and Guzman was able to win the backup job over Greg Bird. Guzman had an underwhelming summer camp and had a .722 OPS with 10 home runs in 87 games last season.

Competing for backup job
Guzman and Greg Bird are competing for the backup job at first base, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The pair entered spring training in competition for the starting job, but Isiah Kiner-Falefa's impressive performance at spring and summer training earned him the starting role at third base, pushing Todd Frazier over to first base. Guzman has failed to separate himself during his first two seasons in the majors and had a .219/.308/.414 slash line with 10 homers in 295 plate appearances in 2019.

Poised to start at third base
Kiner-Falefa is expected to open the season as the Rangers' starting third baseman, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The 25-year-old hit .378 with four homers in spring training and .295 with two homers in summer training, prompting manager Chris Woodward to provide him with the starting opportunity. The previous expected starter at third base, Todd Frazier, will move across the diamond and see most of the playing time at first base.

Set to start at first base
Manager Chris Woodward said Tuesday that Frazier "will probably get the bulk of the playing time" at first base to begin the season, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The 34-year-old signed with the Rangers in January with the likely intent of working at third base, but Isiah Kiner-Falefa's performance during spring and summer training and shifted the team's plans. The youngster is now set to start at the hot corner, pushing Frazier across the diamond. Ronald Guzman and Greg Bird -- who were once competing for the starting role -- may now be fighting for the backup job at first base.

Inside track on starting gig

Impact
Kiner-Falefa's impressive spring has vaulted him ahead of Greg Bird and Ronald Guzman in the battle for a spot in the Rangers' starting infield. Should the 25-year-old lock up his place in the starting lineup, Todd Frazier would shift to first base while Kiner-Falefa steps in at third.
