Slugs 11th homer
Hernandez went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 9-7 loss to the Red Sox.
Impact
His ninth-inning blast off Boston closer Matt Barnes made things a bit interesting, but Toronto couldn't complete the rally. Hernandez extended his hit streak to seven games with the long ball, a stretch during which he's batting .348 (8-for-23) with half his hits leaving the yard. On the year, the 27-year-old is slashing .292/.339/.651 with 11 homers -- tying him with Nelson Cruz and Jose Abreu for the American League lead -- and 19 RBI.

Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Friday's extra-inning win over the Rays.
Impact
He opened the scoring for the Jays in the second inning with a blast off Ryan Yarbrough. Hernandez could be heating up again, as he also homered in his first at-bat in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader. On the season, the 27-year-old is slashing .290/.316/.634 with nine homers and 17 RBI through 24 games.

Smacks eighth homer
Hernandez went 3-for-7 with one walk, one home run, two RBI and three runs scored across both games of the Blue Jays' doubleheader Thursday against the Phillies.
Impact
Hernandez recorded one knock in the first game, but came through with the majority of his production in the later contest. He delivered a two-run home run in the first inning, taking Vince Velasquez deep for his eighth home run of the season. He's gotten off to a strong start to the campaign, as he's now hitting .289/.309/.611 to go along with 16 RBI and 13 runs scored across 94 plate appearances.

Good to go Wednesday
Hernandez (back) will start in right field and bat second Wednesday against the Orioles.
Impact
Hernandez was withheld from the lineup for Tuesday's 8-7 win due to back tightness, but manager Charlie Montoyo still allowed the 27-year-old to enter the contest as a pinch hitter. The Blue Jays' decision to include Hernandez in the starting nine a day later suggests the back issue is something that he'll be able to regularly play through moving forward. Through 13 games in August, Hernandez is batting .280 with three home runs, three doubles, eight RBI and four runs.

Managing back tightness
Hernandez was held out of Tuesday's lineup versus the Orioles due to back tightness, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
Impact
The 27-year-old apparently isn't completely unavailable for Tuesday's game, but the team is likely to give him the full night off if possible. It doesn't appear to be a serious concern, so Hernandez should be considered day-to-day. Cavan Biggio will slide out to right field while Brandon Drury starts at the keystone in Baltimore.

Receives rare rest
Hernandez will hit the bench for just the second time this season Tuesday against the Orioles.
Impact
Hernandez has certainly deserved his everyday role, as he's hitting .299/.313/.636 with seven homers through 19 games. Cavan Biggio will move out to right field Tuesday, with Brandon Drury starting at second base.

Launches fifth homer
Hernandez went 1-for-6 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Marlins.
Impact
His blistering start to the season has predictably cooled; Wednesday's homer was his fifth of the year, but his first in August. Hernandez is still slashing a solid .267/.286/.583, however, with nine RBI and eight runs through 15 games.

Another two homers
Hernandez went 3-for-4 with two home runs, two RBI and two runs scored Thursday against the Nationals.
Impact
Hernandez hit a pair of solo home runs, the first coming in the fourth inning off Erick Fedde. He followed that up in the eighth frame, taking Tanner Rainey yard. It was Hernandez's second two-homer effort in the last four games, and he now has four long balls on the season. While he continues to strike out plenty, Hernandez has still managed to collect nine hits -- eight have gone for extra bases -- in 31 plate appearances.

Sitting in fourth straight
Grichuk (back) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Nationals.
Impact
Grichuk won't end up starting at all during the four-game series with Washington due to the lower-back injury he picked up last weekend. Derek Fisher will receive another turn in right field, while Teoscar Hernandez shifts over to center field in Grichuk's stead.

Blasts two homers Monday
Hernandez went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in Monday's 4-1 win over the Nationals.
Impact
All four Toronto runs scored on solo shots, with Hernandez leading the power surge. The 27-year-old has gone 5-for-17 to begin the season, with four of his five hits going for extra bases (two doubles and two homers), but his 0:7 BB:K suggests the hot streak won't last.

Impact
Derek Fisher entered in right field with Teoscar Hernandez moving to center field. Grichuk went 2-for-2 with a run and a walk prior to exiting and now has a hit in each of the Jays' first three games of the season.
