INJURIES

No-decision against Washington Imai did not factor into Tuesday's decision against the Nationals, allowing two runs on four hits and threw walks while striking out three across 3.2 innings.
Impact Imai put the Astros on the back foot early by giving up a leadoff home run to James Wood. Imai yielded another run in the second and ran up his pitch count to 84 (52 strikes) before being pulled in the fourth inning. He's recorded only 15 outs over his last two starts, which comes after he tossed back-to-back quality starts with 10-plus strikeouts in each of those outings, and he sits at a 6.06 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 52 innings this season. Whether Imai gets one last turn in the rotation before the All-Star break largely depends on whether Ronel Blanco (elbow) will be activated off the 60-day IL for the Astros' weekend road series against the Rangers.

Only gets four outs in loss Imai (5-4) picked up the loss Wednesday against the Twins after allowing five runs on four hits and five walks across 1.1 innings. He struck out two.
Impact The start today was the latest hiccup in Imai's up-and-down first season in the MLB as he struggled with control and the long ball on Wednesday. After striking out 21 in his last two starts, Imai only struck out two and was pulled after he gave up home runs in the first two innings to Josh Bell and Kody Clemens. Imai picked up his first loss since May and raised his ERA to 6.14 and his WHIP to 1.47. The 28-year-old will presumably start in Washington next week.

Twirls gem in fifth win Imai (5-3) notched the win Thursday against the Tigers, allowing no runs on two hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out 10.
Impact Imai was brilliant on the mound Thursday, scattering two singles over six shutout innings. The 28-year-old right-hander has recorded double-digit strikeouts in back-to-back quality starts, a stretch which comes on the heels of his second-shortest outing of the season June 12 in Kansas City. Imai will try to further improve on his 5.36 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 58:25 K:BB over 47 innings in his next scheduled appearance at home versus the Twins.

Strikes out 11 in win Imai (4-3) earned the win against the Guardians on Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks with 11 strikeouts over six innings.
Impact Imai allowed three runs in the third inning but was otherwise as good as he's been in an Astros uniform, registering a season-high 11 punchouts while not issuing a walk for just the second time in 10 contests. He leaned heavily on his slider, generating a whopping 17 of his 20 swinging strikes on the pitch while throwing it 57 percent of the time. The 28-year-old still owns an ugly 6.15 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 48:24 K:BB across 41 innings this season and will try to build on this performance in a road matchup against the Tigers next week.

Lasts 0.2 innings Friday Imai didn't factor in the decision Friday against the Royals after allowing five runs on four hits and a walk across two-thirds of an inning. He struck out one.
Impact Imai tossed his first pitch holding a nine-run lead after the Astros' offensive explosion against Luinder Avila, but Imai wasn't much better and failed to complete the first inning. This was Imai's shortest outing of the season if we exclude the April 10 start against the Mariners in which he departed due to a right arm injury after recording just one out. Imai will carry a 6.43 ERA and 1.51 WHIP across nine outings into his next start, scheduled against the Tigers at home.

Fans eight in victory Imai (3-3) allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight batters over five innings in a win over the Athletics on Saturday.
Impact Houston scored six runs in the first two innings, allowing Imai to go on cruise control. The right-hander gave up a pair of runs in the third frame but didn't allow the A's to get any closer. Imai racked up an impressive 17 swinging strikes and fell one short of his season-high mark with eight punchouts, though he was pulled after five innings having thrown 92 pitches. That snapped a streak of two straight quality starts, but Imai nonetheless continued to turn things around after a rough beginning to his MLB career. He had an 8.31 ERA through his first five starts spanning 17.1 innings, but since then he's gone 2-1 with a 2.12 ERA across 17 frames over three starts.

Tough-luck loss in quality start Imai (2-3) took the loss Sunday against the Brewers, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out five.
Impact After slinging six no-hit innings his last time out, Imai logged his second consecutive quality start Sunday. The Astros gave him a long leash, as the 28-year-old right-hander tossed a season-high 110 pitches, and Imai gave up two runs or fewer for just the third time in seven starts this year. He'll look to further improve on a 5.52 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 28:20 K:BB over 29.1 innings in his next scheduled outing at home against the division-rival Athletics.

Logs six frames in no-hitter Imai (2-2) earned the win Monday, allowing no hits and four walks over six scoreless innings against Texas. He struck out two.
Impact Imai totaled just six whiffs and matched a season high with four walks, but he kept the Texas lineup at bay through 97 pitches (57 strikes) before departing after six innings. Steven Okert and Alimber Santa handled the final three frames to complete the first no-hitter of the 2026 season. While the no-hitter is an incredible accomplishment for both Imai and Houston, simply turning in an effective outing was also significant for the southpaw, who has struggled mightily during his first MLB campaign. Despite Monday's gem, Imai still owns a 6.17 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 23:18 K:BB across 23.1 innings (six starts). He'll look to build off the performance next time out, which is tentatively scheduled for Sunday against Milwaukee.
