Gerrit Cole - Hopes to start throwing in August Cole (elbow) said that he plans to begin a throwing program in August, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Cole spoke to the media Monday for the first time since March, when he underwent UCL reconstructive surgery on his right elbow that included internal bracing. The 34-year-old will resume throwing six months post-surgery, but it's not clear if he'll be able to advance to mound work by the time the 2025 season concludes. Cole acknowledged that he doesn't yet have a target date in mind for when he might be ready to pitch next season, and a timeline for his 2026 debut may not come into focus until next spring.

Jasson Domínguez - Hitting bench Monday Dominguez is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.
Impact The New York outfield has become a four-man rotation of late with manager Aaron Boone having made more of an effort to keep Trent Grisham's hot bat in the lineup. With Grisham manning center field and Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge flanking him in left and right field, respectively, Dominguez will be the odd man out Monday. Dominguez has now sat three times in the last six games and could end up settling in as more of a part-time player if Grisham continues to rake.

Oswaldo Cabrera - Taking seat Monday Cabrera is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.
Impact Cabrera will get the night off after he went 0-for-9 while starting at third base in all three games of the Yankees' series versus Tampa Bay over the weekend. Oswald Peraza will spell him at the hot corner Monday.

Anthony Volpe - Receives green light to play Monday Volpe (shoulder) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Padres.
Impact Though rain in the New York forecast Monday night could result in the series opener being postponed, the Yankees are comfortable enough with Volpe's health to have him play if the game goes on as planned. Volpe felt a pop in his left shoulder Saturday and sat out Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Rays as a result, but he avoided a significant injury after an MRI and X-ray cleared him of any major damage.
