Set to make Opening Day roster Jones is expected to make Atlanta's Opening Day roster, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 35-year-old joined the Braves on a minor-league deal in February and performed well in spring training with 6.1 scoreless frames. Jones should open the season in middle relief for Atlanta.

Returns to action Friday Lamb (general soreness) is starting at third base and batting third in Friday's Cactus League game against the Twins.
Impact The 30-year-old was scratched from Wednesday's contest with general soreness, but he'll make a quick return to Cactus League action. Lamb is on track to open the season in a bench role for the Braves, though he's struggled at the plate in spring training.

Anderson confident Rays bullpen can thrive while he's out

Tampa Bay relievers Nick Anderson will miss at least half the season with an elbow injury that’s not expected to require surgery
MARCH 26, 2021 Associated Press
Trying non-surgical options Anderson expects to try a platelet-rich plasma injection or stem cell treatment to address his partially torn elbow ligament, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Anderson's elbow woes are expected to keep him out until after the All-Star break. He's not planning on undergoing surgery at this point, though the aforementioned treatments don't have a 100 percent success rate, so he may be forced to change his plans eventually. Diego Castillo and Pete Fairbanks look like the top ninth-inning options in his absence, though the Rays are famously creative with their pitchers' roles, so it's always possible someone else enters the picture.

Set for bullpen role Tomlin has posted a 2.25 ERA and 5:0 K:BB through four Grapefruit League innings this spring.
Impact The veteran right-hander has been a solid long reliever/swingman for Atlanta over the last two years with a 4.08 ERA and 1.15 WHIP, and Tomin could be leaned on fairly heavily in the early going as the team looks to manage the workload of the rotation. It's not a particularly fantasy-friendly role, but he might stumble into a win or two with a potent offense at his back.

Fighting control this spring Matzek has posted a 2.25 ERA and 12:5 K:BB through eight innings this spring.
Impact The run prevention is nice, but Matzek has had a little trouble getting the ball over the plate consistently, an issue that plagued him in the past prior to his remarkable comeback in 2020. The left-hander has the strikeout stuff to get out of jams and is still expected to fill a high-leverage role in the Atlanta bullpen to begin the season, but if he can't rein in the walks he could slip down the pecking order quickly.
