Harold Ramírez - Serving as DH in Game 1 Ramirez is in the Rays' lineup at designated hitter for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader with Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Ramirez was initially absent from the lineup, but a late scratch of Luke Raley puts Ramirez back in as Tampa Bay's DH. Ramirez started the season hot but has cooled off recently, slashing .189/.231/.378 over the past two weeks.

Luke Raley - Scratched for Game 1 Raley was scratched from the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact It's unclear why Raley was taken out of the lineup, but the Rays should provide more information shortly. Harold Ramirez will enter as Tampa Bay's designated hitter instead.
JUNE 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Cooper Criswell - Called up for doubleheader Criswell was called up to serve as the 27th man for Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Impact Criswell has worked as a bulk reliever four times this season, struggling to a 6.46 ERA across 15.1 innings of work. He could be called on to fill a similar role behind opener Trevor Kelley in the first half of Saturday's twin bill.
JUNE 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Harold Ramírez - Sitting Saturday afternoon Ramirez will hit the bench for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Impact Like many Rays, Ramirez plays frequently but not everyday, as his trip to the bench here means he's started 40 of the team's first 59 games. That puts him on pace for 110 starts across a full season. Luke Raley will be the designated hitter in the afternoon contest, but there's a good chance Ramirez returns for the nightcap.
JUNE 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Wander Franco - Back in action Franco (shoulder) will return to the lineup for the first half of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees, batting second and playing shortstop, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Ti...
Impact Franco hadn't played since Tuesday due to a minor left shoulder injury. He was set to return Friday but had to wait one more day after that game got rained out. It's possible the Rays won't ask him to start twice in one day immediately after his return, but he'll be taking part in at least one contest, squaring off against Garrett Whitlock.

Josh Fleming - Placed on IL with elbow soreness Fleming was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with left elbow soreness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Fleming was scheduled to start one of the two games of Tampa Bay's doubleheader against the Red Sox on Saturday, but that won't happen now. The left-hander will miss at least two weeks while recovering, and the Rays will announce a corresponding move before Saturday's twin billing. Trevor Kelley will be an opener in Fleming's place Saturday against Boston.
JUNE 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Trevor Kelley - Serving as opener Saturday Kelley will be the opener for the first game of a doubleheader against the Red Sox on Saturday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Impact Kelley will open the game and likely go an inning or two before giving way to Josh Fleming and the rest of the Tampa Bay bullpen. Tyler Glasnow will get the start in the second game after having his scheduled start Friday postponed due to inclement weather.
JUNE 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tyler Glasnow - Start moved back after rainout Glasnow's start against the Red Sox on Friday was postponed due to inclement weather.
Impact Glasnow was supposed to face off against Boston and Garrett Whitlock on Friday, but the rain will see that game rescheduled for Monday. Both Glasnow and Whitlock should both be on the bump for one of Saturday's scheduled games with the two teams playing a doubleheader.
JUNE 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Wander Franco - Returns to lineup Friday Franco (shoulder) is back in the lineup Friday against the Red Sox.
Impact Franco missed Wednesday's series finale against the Cubs due to left shoulder discomfort, but the issue has proven to be minor. He will start at shortstop and bat second Friday versus the Red Sox and right-hander Garrett Whitlock. The 22-year-old rising star boasts a .298/.362/.482 slash line with seven home runs and 20 stolen bases through 55 games this season for Tampa Bay.
JUNE 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Harold Ramírez - Breather Friday Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Friday versus the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Ramirez will take a seat after he went 1-for-7 with a strikeout while starting the last two games of the three-game series with the Cubs. Luke Raley will draw the start at designated hitter and bat seventh in the series opener with Boston.
JUNE 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Ben Heller - Designated for assignment The Rays designated Heller for assignment Friday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Impact Just over a week after being selected from Triple-A Durham, Heller will lose his spot on the Rays' 40-man roster following the acquisition of Robert Stephenson from Pittsburgh. The 31-year-old righty holds a 3.95 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in Triple-A this season through 27.1 innings and could be claimed by another team in need of organizational bullpen depth.
JUNE 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Shawn Armstrong - Activation imminent Armstrong (neck) is expected to be activated from the injured list sometime this weekend, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Armstrong has been out all season with a neck injury, but he's looked ready on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham, holding a 2.00 ERA and 8:2 K:BB over nine innings of work. The 32-year-old is on the 60-day IL, so the Rays will have to clear a spot on the 40-man roster in addition to the 26-man roster.
JUNE 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Robert Stephenson - Traded to Rays The Rays acquired Stephenson from the Pirates on Friday in exchange for minor-league infielder Alika Williams, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.
Impact Stephenson has a 5.14 ERA for the Pirates this season and a 5.38 ERA over 76 relief appearances since the beginning of 2022. However, the first-round pick does have pretty good stuff and can miss bats, particularly with his slider. It's the kind of profile the Rays usually get the most out of, although he'll surely work in low-leverage situations initially.

Carson Williams - Doing damage for Hot Rods Williams has a .276/.373/.504 slash line with six home runs and eight steals in 33 games for High-A Bowling Green.
Impact Known for his plus power and plus defense at shortstop, Williams' one shortcoming is his propensity to strike out. He had a 32.1 percent strikeout rate at Single-A last year and has a 31 percent strikeout rate this season. However, the quality of his contact (33.8 Hard%, 9.2 Soft%) has been strong. Williams excels at getting the ball in the air (38.5 GB%) to the pull side (48.1 Pull%), and his defense should allow him to play regularly in the majors.
JUNE 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Manuel Margot - Swipes seventh bag Margot went 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored and a steal in Wednesday's 4-3 victory over the Cubs.
Impact Margot is now 7-for-9 in stolen base attempts this season, matching his total in 89 games last year. He's also been swinging the bat better recently, batting .296 (8-for-27) with a .737 OPS over his last eight contests. The 28-year-old Margot has slid into a short-side platoon role with the emergences of Josh Lowe, Jose Siri and Luke Raley in a crowded Tampa Bay outfield. Margot is slashing .248/.327/.341 with two homers, 17 runs scored and 15 RBI through 147 plate appearances.
JUNE 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Colin Poche - Notches fourth win Poche (4-1) earned the win in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Cubs, allowing one hit over a scoreless inning.
Impact It was a nice bounce-back effort from Poche after he allowed two runs on three hits in his last outing Saturday. The 29-year-old left-hander finishes May with a 2.89 ERA over 9.1 innings, holding opponents scoreless in nine out of his 11 appearances. Poche now sports a 2.29 ERA through 19.2 innings this season with a 1.37 WHIP, 12:9 K:BB, one save and seven holds. He could be in line for more high-leverage work while Pete Fairbanks (hip) is sidelined.
