Starting Friday Matz will start Friday's game at home against Atlanta, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.

Impact Matz was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Sunday after recovering from shoulder discomfort and hasn't pitched since. He was transitioned to a bullpen role prior to heading to the injured list, but he'll return to the mound to make a spot start for the series opener against Atlanta. The southpaw has an 0-4 record with an 8.63 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 24 innings this season.

Mets manager Luis Rojas claims Matz "didn't feel right" despite an efficient outing. Matz will most likely officially move to the injured list either Saturday or Sunday, however, whoever the Mets decide to call up in his place has yet to be determined.

Impact The Mets left the southpaw's status in the rotation up in the air coming out of his ugly outing Saturday, and he'll move to the bullpen rather than start Thursday. Seth Lugo will take his spot in the rotation, though Matz could still see work Thursday since Lugo isn't close to being stretched out as a starter. Matz has surrendered 23 runs on 30 hits, including nine homers, through 23 innings this season.

Impact He has a 14.66 ERA and 1.97 WHIP over his last three starts. If the Mets had quality options behind Matz, he would have likely already been bumped from the rotation, but the team's rotation depth has really been tested so far this season.
