Francisco MejĂa - Nearing rehab assignment Mejia (knee) could resume on-field activities Friday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact If all goes well this weekend, Mejia could play in minor-league rehab games early next week. Rays manager Kevin Cash suggested the catcher could then rejoin the major-league roster by the tail end of the club's upcoming road trip, or when the team returns home Aug. 22. Mejia, who has a .658 OPS and five home runs this season, figures to operate as the clear No. 2 behind Christian Bethancourt upon his return.

Taylor Walls - Return not imminent Rays manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that Walls (oblique) is "still a ways away" from a return, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact A left oblique strain forced Walls to the injured list back on July 22 and there is still no timetable for his return to major-league action. The switch hitter has swiped 20 bags this season and he's taken a step forward with the bat, with a 95 wRC+ putting him just a little below league average by that metric.

Tyler O'Neill - Could return Thursday Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said O'Neill (knee) could return to action Thursday versus the Rays, John Denton of MLB.com reports.
Impact O'Neill was scratched from the lineup Tuesday and Wednesday due to left knee tightness, but it doesn't seem to be a serious concern. The 28-year-old outfielder has slashed .283/.387/.528 in 62 plate appearances since he returned July 20 from a multi-month absence for a back injury.

Tyler Glasnow - Remains on track to start Saturday Manager Kevin Cash said Glasnow (back) played catch Wednesday, and the Rays remain "optimistic" that the right-hander will be ready to make his next start Saturday versus the Guard...
Impact At the same time, the skipper noted that he won't know for certain that Glasnow will be able to pitch this weekend until Saturday morning, so fantasy managers planning on activating him should keep a close eye on his status leading up to the game's 4:10 p.m. ET start time that day. Glasnow was scratched ahead of his most recent scheduled start this past Sunday after experiencing back spasms, but he seems to making good progress in his recovery from the injury.
