How the Cardinals' Ryan Helsley is emerging as a star reliever in the making The dominance Helsley has established over opposing hitters is similar to what you'd see in video games.

Ronald Bolaños - Sloppy in Wednesday's appearance Bolanos allowed three runs on four hits and three walks with one strikeout in 2.2 innings during Wednesday's 10-0 loss to the Cardinals.
Impact Bolanos was assigned to mop-up duty in an impromptu bullpen game. He allowed a sacrifice fly to Paul DeJong and a two-run home run to Tyler O'Neill. Prior to Wednesday, Bolanos had covered 4.1 scoreless innings to begin the year, though he's been generous with baserunners in all three of his outings. The right-hander has given up eight hits and seven walks across seven innings in a multi-inning role, so he should consider himself lucky to have a 3.86 ERA.

Joel Payamps - Fills bulk-relief role Payamps allowed a run on two hits and a walk with one strikeout across 2.2 innings during Wednesday's 10-0 loss to the Cardinals.
Impact Starter Kris Bubic recorded just one out in the first inning, leading to an early call to the bullpen. Payamps didn't have much luck either, allowing an RBI triple to Tyler O'Neill and a sacrifice fly to Harrison Bader, though only one run was charged to the reliever. Payamps has a 2.08 ERA despite a 1.50 WHIP and 6:3 K:BB through 8.2 innings. The right-hander often works in low-leverage assignments, and he won't see a more significant role as long as he's yielding so many baserunners.

Juan Yepez - Two hits in debut Yepez went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Royals.
Impact Yepez earned the promotion to the majors after swatting nine home runs in 22 games to start the season at Triple-A Memphis. He wasn't able to leave the yard in his major-league debut, but the two doubles are an early illustration of his power. He'll be a depth option at the corner infield and corner outfield positions while he's up with the Cardinals. Yepez's best chance at playing time could be in right field, where Dylan Carlson has struggled to start the year.

Paul DeJong - Notches steal Wednesday DeJong went 0-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Royals.
Impact DeJong is now 0-for-8 over his last three games, but he was able to do provide some value Wednesday despite not recording a hit. He walked, stole second and scored in the seventh inning before adding a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The shortstop still owns a lackluster .127/.222/.222 slash line with one home runs, three stolen bases, five RBI and six runs scored through 72 plate appearances. Utility man Brendan Donovan could challenge DeJong for playing time while Edmundo Sosa (illness) is on the COVID-19 injured list.

Tommy Edman - Solid in big win Edman went 0-for-2 with three walks, a stolen base and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Royals.
Impact Edman has recorded five of his six steals this season in his last eight games, batting .333 (9-for-27) in that span. The second baseman's strong hitting of late has helped him regain a near-everyday spot atop the order. He has a .308/.419/.474 slash line with three home runs, 11 RBI and 16 runs scored in 23 contests.
