Alec Mills - Starting Sunday Mills will start Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Maddie Lee of NBC Sports Chicago reports.
Impact Kohl Stewart was demoted after a rough start Friday, leaving a gap in the Cubs' rotation in the short term. Trevor Williams (abdomen) and Adbert Alzolay (finger) could return in the not-so-distant future, so this could be just a spot start for Mills. He threw six shutout innings with four strikeouts at Triple-A on June 2, so Mills could conceivably go deep enough to qualify for the win.

Kohl Stewart - Sent to Triple-A Stewart was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday.
Impact His ERA shot to 5.68 after giving up five earned runs in four innings Friday against the Cardinals. Stewart could return to the big-league rotation later this summer if he can show some improvement at Triple-A. Cory Abbott could be an option to take his rotation spot, and Adbert Alzolay (finger) will eventually rejoin the rotation.

Génesis Cabrera - Suffers second loss Cabrera (1-2) took the loss in a defeat at the hands of the Cubs on Friday, allowing two earned runs on three hits over one-third of an inning. He struck out one.
Impact Cabrera got himself into immediate trouble upon entering in the seventh, allowing two of the first three hitters to reach safely before yielding a two-run double to Joc Pederson. Friday's stumble is an extension of what has been a clear rough patch for the left-hander, as he's now allowed five runs (four earned) across the 3.2 innings covering his last four appearances.

Yadier Molina - Racks up three hits in loss Molina went 3-for-4 in a loss to the Cubs on Friday.
Impact The veteran backstop had gone 0-for-2 with a hit by pitch, a walk, an RBI and a run Wednesday in his return from a two-game absence due to a knee bruise, and he followed it up with his first multi-hit effort since May 29 in Friday's defeat. Molina is putting together one of his best offensive performances of the past several seasons, as he's carrying a .286 average, .823 OPS, 18 extra-base hits and 28 RBI across 167 plate appearances.
