Bound for Triple-A The Astros optioned Dubin to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Impact After working in relief in his first two big-league appearances, Dubin entered the rotation Sunday and took a no-decision while limiting a tough Texas offense to one run on three hits and two walks. Though Dubin acquitted himself well Sunday, the Astros opted to swap him off the 26-man active roster for right-hander Brandon Bielak, who was called up from Sugar Land in a corresponding move. If he isn't needed in relief over the next couple of days, Bielak will likely step in the rotation when the Astros next require a fifth starter Friday versus the Mariners.

Impact Dubin worked up to 68 pitches (39 strikes) in his first big-league start, and he did an effective job of quieting a strong offense. The run on his line came on an Adolis Garcia sacrifice fly in the first inning. It's unclear if Dubin will stick in the Astros' rotation beyond Sunday -- Framber Valdez (ankle) is questionable to pitch again before the All-Star break. If Dubin starts again, it'll likely be during a four-game home series versus the Mariners.

Impact Dubin made his big-league debut June 18 and has pitched twice in relief. He's worked multiple innings on both occasions, though he may not pitch long enough to be eligible for a win. Dubin's effectiveness will also be a question, as he has allowed six earned runs across five major-league innings.

However, Dubin had a 6.27 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 18.2 innings prior to the injury. He should be considered out indefinitely.
