Will Brennan - Joins San Francisco
Brennen (elbow) agreed to a one-year, major-league contract with the Giants on Sunday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
The 28-year-old was limited to 159 plate appearances between Triple-A and the majors last season, as he underwent Tommy John surgery in June and then required surgery to address a sports hernia in September. Brennan is fully healthy now, however, and should serve as a fourth outfielder for the Giants.

Rowan Wick - Moves to 60-day IL
The Giants placed Wick (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Sunday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
Wick's move to the 60-day IL was fully expected, as San Francisco signed him earlier this weekend with the knowledge that the right-hander would miss the entire 2026 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in November. The 33-year-old's contract includes a club option for 2027, so the Giants will have the ability to closely monitor his rehab program in the months to come before deciding whether to retain him this winter. Wick hasn't pitched in the majors since 2022 but was one of the top relievers in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball this past season, when he turned in a 1.13 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 58:13 K:BB over 47.2 innings.

Landen Roupp - Throws first live BP of spring
Roupp (knee) completed his first live batting practice session of the spring Saturday, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
The right-hander did not make an appearance after Aug. 20 last year after taking a comebacker off his knee, but he appears to be all set for a normal camp without restrictions. While Roupp does not throw particularly hard and his strikeout rate is modest, he has achieved respectable results nonetheless (3.80 ERA over 106.2 innings last season). He figures to be locked into a rotation spot for San Francisco to begin 2026.

Jason Foley - Placed on 60-day IL
The Giants placed Foley (shoulder) on the 60-day injured list Friday.
Impact
Foley made just five appearances for the Tigers' Triple-A affiliate last year before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in May. He isn't expected to be ready to pitch until midseason, so he'll begin the year on the 60-day IL to create roster space for Rowan Wick (elbow).

Impact
The right-hander last pitched stateside at the Triple-A level in 2023 and had a 4.22 ERA across 64 appearances for the Cubs during the prior season. Wick pitched to a 1.13 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 58:13 K:BB across 47.2 innings last year in Japan, but he won't be available in 2026 while he rehabs from surgery.

Ryan Walker - Found mechanical fix over winter
Walker believes he fixed a mechanical issue over the offseason that had affected his command last season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Walker discovered that he had been over-rotating, which made it difficult to command his slider, in particular. That led to having to throw more sinkers for strikes, and because the hitter was able to guess what was coming, his sinker got hit harder. After finishing with a 1.91 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 32.1 percent strikeout rate in 2024, Walker regressed to a 4.11 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 22.6% strikeout rate in 2025. The 30-year-old is the favorite to open 2026 as the Giants' closer, and he could have a bounce-back season if his mechanics are in order.

Sam Hentges - Completes bullpen session
Hentges (shoulder/knee) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, per MLB.com.
Impact
Hentges missed the entire 2025 campaign after undergoing left shoulder surgery in September 2024. He also had arthroscopic right knee surgery last August before signing a one-year deal with San Francisco in November. The left-hander is expected to be ready for spring training and will look to return to form following his lengthy absence. Over 25 relief appearances for Cleveland in 2024, he posted a 3.04 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 27:5 K:BB across 23.2 innings.

Casey Schmitt - Progressing in recovery
Schmitt (wrist) will continue his hitting progression for one more week and is then expected to be cleared for all baseball activities, per MLB.com.
Impact
Schmitt underwent surgery in early December to remove the carpal boss in his left wrist but is expected to be ready before Opening Day. The 26-year-old infielder slashed .237/.305/.401 with 12 home runs, 40 RBI and 34 runs scored across 348 plate appearances in 95 games last season. He's expected to play a utility role in 2026.
