Bryce Eldridge - Hitless in MLB debut
Eldridge went 0-for-3 with one strikeout in Monday's 8-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Impact
Eldridge, who was promoted from Triple-A Sacramento to make his big-league debut Monday, didn't quite provide the offensive spark his team was looking for, as the Giants were held to two hits on the night. Even so, the 20-year-old slugger should see a healthy dose of at-bats down the stretch of the regular season in either the DH role or at first base while San Francisco fights to earn a postseason bid.

Cole Waites - Returns from 7-day IL
Waites (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list Thursday.
Impact
Waites made his first appearance since July 17 after missing time on the injured list, tossing a scoreless frame while allowing one hit and one walk Friday against Triple-A Oklahoma City. He'll aim to build some momentum down the stretch after missing all of 2024 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and now most of 2025 with an undisclosed issue.

Brett Wisely - DFA'd by San Francisco
The Giants designated Wisely for assignment Monday.
Impact
The move makes room on the Giants' 40-man roster for Bryce Eldridge, who will make his major-league debut against the Diamondbacks on Monday. Wisely has spent most of the season in Triple-A, where he is slashing .253/.332/.387 with 12 steals, 17 doubles, seven home runs and 42 RBI in 342 plate appearances.

Luis Matos - Optioned to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Matos to Triple-A Sacramento on Monday.
Impact
The move makes room on the Giants' roster for top hitting prospect Bryce Eldridge, who will make his major-league debut against the Diamondbacks on Monday. Matos has seen his playing time dip slightly in September, and in seven games since Sept. 2 he has gone 3-for-21 (.143) with three runs and one RBI.

Bryce Eldridge - Called up, serving as DH
The Giants selected Eldridge's contract from Triple-A Sacramento, and he will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth against the Diamondbacks on Monday, John Shea of the San...
Impact
The move paves the way for Eldridge to make his major-league debut in Monday's series opener. The 21-year-old was promoted to Triple-A in early June and has since slashed .249/.322/.514 with one steal, 31 runs, 13 doubles, 18 home runs and 63 RBI across 286 plate appearances. He'll serve as the DH in his debut, but Eldridge should also work on the strong side of the platoon at first base with Wilmer Flores across the final two weeks of the regular season.

Randy Rodríguez - Tommy John surgery on tap next week
Rodriguez is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on his right elbow during the final week of September, MLB.com reports.
Impact
Rodriguez has known for a few weeks that he would need Tommy John surgery after he was placed on the injured list Aug. 26, but he'll end up delaying the procedure for nearly a month, presumably because he was waiting for the inflammation in his elbow to subside. Assuming his surgery goes off without any complications, Rodriguez will face a 12-to-18-month recovery, which will keep him out for the entire 2026 campaign. Before suffering the injury, Rodriguez earned his first All-Star nod after submitting a 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 67:11 K:BB while collecting three wins, four saves and 13 holds over 50.2 innings this season.

Erik Miller - Eyeing return before season's end
Miller (elbow) completed a bullpen session at Oracle Park on Saturday, MLB.com reports.
Impact
Miller has been on the shelf since July 5 due to a left elbow sprain and incurred a setback in mid-August after making four rehab appearances for Triple-A Sacramento, but he's been able to resume his throwing program following a brief shutdown period. The southpaw still appears to have a chance at returning from the 60-day injured list before the end of the regular season, but due to the extensive time he's missed, the Giants may not be eager to deploy him in high-leverage spots right away while the team fights for a wild-card spot.

Landen Roupp - Completes bullpen session
Roupp (knee) tossed a 25-pitch bullpen session at Oracle Park on Friday, MLB.com reports.
Impact
Roupp isn't expected to pitch again this season after landing on the 15-day injured list Aug. 22 due to a left knee bone bruise, but his ability to get back on the mound just under a month after suffering the injury suggests that he'll be in line for a relatively normal offseason. The 27-year-old proved to be a serviceable member of the rotation when healthy in 2025, logging a 7-7 record with a 3.80 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 102:45 K:BB in 106.2 innings.

Dominic Smith - Likely out for regular season
Smith was diagnosed with a moderate hamstring strain after exiting Friday's 5-1 win over the Dodgers and is expected to miss the rest of the regular season, MLB.com reports.
Impact
After he was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, Smith is eligible to return for the Giants' final five games of the regular season, but the team is expecting him to need at least two weeks to recover from the hamstring strain. The Giants are planning to call up Bryce Eldridge from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Monday's game in Arizona, and he'll likely step in for Smith in the strong side of a platoon at first base or designated hitter with the right-handed-hitting Wilmer Flores.

Robbie Ray - Struggles with command vs. Dodgers
Ray (11-7) took the loss against the Dodgers on Sunday, surrendering five runs on six hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Ray opened with a flourish, striking out Shohei Ohtani on a 96 mph fastball to begin a clean first inning, but he quickly found himself laboring against a patient Los Angeles lineup. The southpaw issued four walks and needed 98 pitches (58 strikes) to get through just four frames, with his night ending in the fifth after giving up a leadoff walk to Mookie Betts followed by back-to-back hits from Teoscar Hernandez and Freddie Freeman. Over his last seven outings, the 33-year-old has struggled to a 6.06 ERA and 28:12 K:BB across 35.2 innings, and he'll look to steady things in his next scheduled start, a rematch against the Dodgers.

Bryce Eldridge - Set to be called up Monday
Eldridge is expected to called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
Eldridge will join the major-league roster after posting a .249 average with 18 home runs, 63 RBI, 31 runs scored and a stolen base over 253 at-bats in 66 contests with Triple-A Sacramento this year. The 20-year-old is considered to be the Giants' top overall prospect, and he operated exclusively as a first baseman with Sacramento.

Carson Whisenhunt - Slated for rehab outing Tuesday
Whisenhunt (back) is expected to throw a couple innings in a rehab appearance Tuesday with Triple-A Sacramento, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact
Whisenhunt was placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 31 due to a back strain but won't require a lengthy stay on the shelf. After completing a bullpen session Sunday that incorporated all of his pitches, Whisenhunt will make an abbreviated rehab appearance Tuesday before potentially rejoining the Giants next weekend. San Francisco has been getting by of late with Kai-Wei Teng and Carson Seymour as its back-end starters, but Whisenhunt could replace either pitcher in the rotation once he's activated.
