With Yelich still out, Andrew Vaughn will serve as Milwaukee's designated hitter Friday.

Matt Waldron - Removed from 40-man roster The Padres designated Waldron for assignment Friday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Waldron has failed to gain much traction with the Padres the last two seasons, posting an 8.36 ERA and 25:13 K:BB over 28 innings covering four starts and three relief outings. The knuckleballer has a chance to clear waivers, and if that happens, he could stick around as swingman depth at Triple-A El Paso.

Alek Jacob - Rejoins big-league bullpen The Padres recalled Jacob from Triple-A El Paso on Friday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Jacob turned in two scoreless innings in an appearance for the Padres earlier this season and holds a 4.08 ERA and 18:10 K:BB over 17.2 frames with El Paso. He will likely be sent back down when Lucas Giolito joins the rotation later this weekend.

Impact Crow will be the starting pitcher in Friday's series opener in Minnesota. The rookie right-hander held his own in a spot start earlier this season, logging 5.1 innings while yielding two runs. It could be just another spot start for Crow, who has posted a 4.70 ERA and 34:13 K:BB over 30.2 innings this season with Nashville.
