Mike Minor - Throwing bullpen Wednesday Minor (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact Minor's rehab assignment was paused two weeks ago after he experienced renewed shoulder soreness following a rehab start at Double-A Chattanooga. However, he's now been cleared to resume throwing and is expected to throw off a mound again Saturday if Wednesday's bullpen session goes well. A better idea of the left-hander's status should come into focus based on how he feels following his pair of bullpen sessions.

Jose Barrero - Playing field recently Barrero (hand) has been playing in the field at the Reds' extended spring training facility recently, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact The Reds indicated last week that Barrero had begun a hitting progression, and his return to fielding indicates another step in his recovery. The 24-year-old is expected to ramp up his hitting next week and should be in the mix for a rehab assignment sometime after that. Although he's made progress in his recovery recently, he doesn't yet have a timetable to rejoin the major-league club.

Tyler Stephenson - Slated to catch live BP Stephenson (concussion) is expected to catch a live BP on Saturday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Impact Stephenson participated in agility drills and ran on the field ahead of Wednesday's game against the Padres. Since the 25-year-old will catch a live BP session from Mike Minor (shoulder) this weekend, manager David Bell indicated that Stephenson could return sometime during the Reds' series in Milwaukee that begins Tuesday.

Mike Moustakas - Nearing return Manager David Bell said Wednesday that Moustakas (biceps) will likely return in the next 3-to-4 days, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer
Impact Although Bell indicated a weekend return is most likely for Moustakas, the 33-year-old could return as early as Thursday against the Padres as a DH-only option since his injury is only impacting his throwing, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Colin Moran and Matt Reynolds should continue to see most of the playing time at third base until Moustakas is cleared to play the field.

Matt McLain - Flashing skills in Double-A McLain is hitting .278/.365/.593 with three homers, three steals, 12 RBI and 13 runs across 15 games for Double-A Chattanooga.
Impact After a solid pro debut in High-A last year, the Reds moved McLain somewhat aggressively to Double-A, and he's rewarded them with a productive start to the year. The UCLA product's strikeout rate has ticked up a bit, but it's not in concerning territory, especially while he's hitting the ball this hard -- he's racked up four doubles and a pair of triples to go with his trio of long balls. We'll see whether he can maintain this level of power output; if so, it'll lift his prospect profile considerably, as he already boasts an above-average hit tool and good speed.

Jorge Alfaro - Not benefit from Voit's absence Alfaro is not included in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
Impact Alfaro looked like a potential beneficiary of primary designated hitter Luke Voit's (biceps) move to the injured list Sunday, but the former has now sat out in both of the Padres' first two games against the Reds to begin the week. He was on the bench Tuesday when southpaw Reiver Sanmartin was on the hill, and he'll be riding pine again Wednesday with right-hander Vladimir Gutierrez twirling for the Reds. Luis Campusano will draw his second start in a row as the Padres' DH and may be ahead of Alfaro in the pecking order for the time being.
