Could require Tommy John surgery Nix recently suffered another elbow injury and could require Tommy John surgery, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.
Impact Nix didn't undergo Tommy John surgery after suffering a UCL tear in his right elbow in March 2019, but it appears as though he could elect for the procedure after another recent elbow injury. He'll likely receive a second opinion on his elbow, but he'd be sidelined for the entire 2021 campaign if he undergoes surgery.

Throws sim game Espinoza (finger) threw 25 pitches during a sim game Wednesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Espinoza has been slowed by a blister on a finger on his right hand in early March, but he threw his first sim game Wednesday since he sustained the injury. The right-hander threw mainly fastballs and curveballs and allowed one single and two walks across six batters. Assuming he feels good after his throwing session, Espinoza could appear in a Cactus League game in the near future.

Reassigned to MiLB camp The White Sox reassigned Vargas (non-injury related) to their minor-league camp Wednesday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact Vargas was slated to join the White Sox for big-league spring training as a non-roster invitee, but visa issues prevented him from getting into a Cactus League game before Chicago reassigned him. With the Triple-A season not starting until May, Vargas will still have plenty of time to build up for game action once he arrives at minor-league camp.

Invited to Padres camp Guerrero signed a minor-league contract with the Padres as a non-roster invitee Wednesday.
Impact Guerrero wasn't signed in 2020 with no minor-league season, but he'll get a chance to work with the major-league coaching staff with the Padres ahead of the 2021 campaign. The 26-year-old spent parts of 2018 and 2019 at the Triple-A level but has yet to make his big-league debut.
