Goes yard once again
Perez went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's win over the Blue Jays.
Impact
Perez slugged a walkoff home run Saturday during Game 2 of the doubleheader against Toronto, and he accounted for all the offense Sunday with a two-run shot in the bottom of the seventh. The veteran catcher is enjoying a strong start to the season and is hitting .291 with a .957 OPS while going deep in three of his last five contests and tallying five RBI in that stretch.

Slugs Game 2 walkoff shot
Perez went 2-for-4 with a walkoff solo home run in a 3-2 win over the Blue Jays during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Impact
After starting a catcher and going 0-for-3 in the opener, Perez slotted in at DH in the nightcap and played hero by launching his fourth homer of the year in the seventh inning off Joel Payamps. Perez is off to a strong start, slashing .300/.352/.600 through 13 games with nine RBI.

Perez opened the scoring with a solo shot in the third inning. He added an RBI double in the seventh and scored on Carlos Santana's two-run blast. Perez swung a hot bat against the Angels, going 8-for-12 with four RBI and three runs scored in the three-game series. He's slashing .333/.395/.641 with three homers, eight RBI and eight runs scored across 43 plate appearances this season.

Records four-hit effort
Perez went 4-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored in Monday's 10-3 loss to the Angels.
Impact
Perez accounted for more than half of the Royals' seven hits Monday, although all four of his hits were singles. The catcher raised his slash line to .290/.371/.516 with two homers, four RBI, five runs scored and no steals in eight games this season. He's likely to be a near-everyday player again in 2021.

Launches homer Wednesday
Perez went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in Wednesday's loss against the Indians.
Impact
Perez clubbed his second homer of the season, but he has racked up just four hits in 19 at-bats to begin the season while recording more than one knock just once in his first five games thus far. The veteran catcher is not the star player he once was, but he should remain one of the most potent forces in the Royals lineup in 2021.

Pops first homer
Perez went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 7-3 loss to the Rangers.
Impact
Perez got the Royals on the board with his big fly in the sixth inning, which was all the scoring they mustered against Rangers starter Jordan Lyles. The 30-year-old Perez had been mostly quiet while the Royals racked up 25 runs over their first two games. The catcher has collected four runs and two RBI in three games, and he figures to see most of the work behind the dish after signing a four-year, $82 million contract extension March 21.

Trying more patient approach
Perez has focused on being more patient at the plate and taking more pitches this spring, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
Impact
Perez has a career 3.4 percent walk rate and walked only 1.9 percent of the time across 156 plate appearances in 2020. His attempts to scale back his aggressiveness have yielded some results so far, as he's already earned two free passes through 20 plate appearances in spring training. The approach may not last into the regular season, as Perez said that his primary focus will be continuing to make plenty of hard contact.
