Earns win in relief Rolison (6-1) earned the win in relief Tuesday against the Dodgers after pitching a perfect inning, striking out one.
Impact Rolison got the final out in the sixth inning and recorded two more outs in the seventh before being lifted. He didn't need too many pitches to do so, as he tossed 10 of his 14 pitches for strikes. The 29-year-old southpaw has been pitching well of late, allowing just one earned run across eight appearances and 9.2 innings since the All-Star break. He has a 10:3 K:BB in that span.

Records first MLB save Rolison retired the only batter he faced to record the save in Tuesday's 9-7 win over the Padres.
Impact The lefty Rolison was tapped for a matchup against Jackson Merrill to end the game. As he's done all season, the southpaw shut the door against a lefthanded batter, and this time it earned him his first career MLB save. Rolison is limiting lefties to a .152 batting average, and he's recorded 17 strikeouts across 14.1 innings in those matchups. That's helped stake the reliever to a stellar 1.97 ERA overall this year. Rolison isn't Chicago's first option for saves at the moment, but he's quickly earning trust in the team's bullpen.

Brewers square off against the Cubs with series tied 1-1

Both the Milwaukee Brewers and the Chicago Cubs are looking for a series win with a victory on Sunday
JUNE 28 • Associated Press
Beginning bullpen game Sunday Rolison will work as the Cubs' starter Sunday versus Milwaukee, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
Impact Rolison has one opening appearance so far this season, retiring all four batters he faced against the Giants on June 13. He's tossed fewer than two frames in each of his 10 outings so far in June, so the left-hander presumably won't go very deep into Sunday's matchup. There's no clear bulk-relief option behind Rolison, so Chicago may elect to deploy several relievers in relatively short stints to get through the game.

Serving as opener Rolison will start Sunday's game against the Giants in San Francisco, Vinnie Duber of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact Rolison has been an effective relief option this year with a 2.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 24:12 K:BB over 24 innings, and he's now se to make his first start of the season, and second of his career. The left-hander has covered more than one frame in eight of his 20 appearances this year and is likely to give way to Colin Rea after an inning or two Sunday.

Cubs bring 3-game win streak into matchup with the Giants

The Chicago Cubs seek to continue a three-game win streak with a victory against the San Francisco Giants
JUNE 14 • Associated Press
Earns fifth win Saturday Rolison (5-1) pitched a scoreless inning of relief to earn the win in Saturday's 3-2 extra-inning victory over the Giants. He walked a batter and struck out two.
Impact Rolison pitched a clean top of the 10th inning, then secured the win when the Cubs plated a run in the bottom half to complete their comeback. After struggling to a 7.02 ERA and 1.77 WHIP across 42.1 innings last season during his MLB debut with the Rockies, the lefty has been much better in year No. 2 with a 2.49 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 21.2 innings so far. A move away from Coors Field surely helped, but Rolison has also dialed his fastball up to 94.5 mph on average after sitting at 92.9 mph in 2025. His K/9 has climbed accordingly from 5.3 last season to 8.7 in 2026.

Allows walk-off homer Sunday Rolison (3-1) blew the save and took the loss Sunday against the White Sox, allowing two runs (one earned) on one hit over one-third of an inning.
Impact Rolison entered the 10th inning protecting a one-run lead in the first save opportunity of his career, but things unraveled quickly. After Andrew Benintendi successfully bunted the automatic runner to third base, Edgar Quero ended the game with a two-run walk-off homer. Rolison has now allowed runs in three of his last five appearances, pushing his season line to a 4.38 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and a 13:6 K:BB across 12.1 innings.

Quero hits a game-ending homer as the White Sox beat the Cubs 9-8 in 10 innings

Edgar Quero hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning and the Chicago White Sox beat the Chicago Cubs 9-8 in the rubber game of their first crosstown series this season
MAY 17 • Associated Press
Secures win Tuesday Rolison (3-0) worked around a walk to pitch a scoreless inning of relief and earn the win in Tuesday's 3-2, 10-inning victory over the Reds. He struck out two.
Impact Rolison was the last of five Chicago pitchers to enter the game, and he managed his third win already in just six relief appearances this year. The righty is pitching well with a 3.12 ERA and 10 strikeouts across 8.2 innings, but he's still fairly low in the Cubs' bullpen pecking order, and his fantasy value remains limited as a result.
