Blue Jays' Borucki suspended 3 games for plunking Kiermaier

Toronto Blue Jays reliever Ryan Borucki has been suspended for three games by Major League Baseball for intentionally hitting Tampa Bay’s Kevin Kiermaier with a pitch

Appealing three-game suspension Borucki is appealing a three-game suspension for intentionally hitting Kevin Kiermaier with a pitch Wednesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Impact Borucki will be available out of the Blue Jays' bullpen while his appeal is heard. The southpaw has made three relief appearances since he was recalled in mid-September, and he's posted a 2.70 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 3.1 innings during that time.

Ejected Wednesday Borucki was ejected from Wednesday's loss to the Rays for allegedly intentionally hitting Kevin Kiermaier with a pitch.

Impact Borucki delivered a clean seventh inning on eight pitches and returned for a second frame, but he was promptly ejected after plunking Kiermaier with a 93-mph offering to start the inning. The left-hander will face a suspension if MLB deems the act was intentional.

Impact Borucki has been on the injured list with a left forearm flexor strain since mid-May. He made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Buffalo beginning July 7, striking out two while allowing one hit across two scoreless innings. He'll resume his big-league season with a 4.05 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 14:5 K:BB.

Impact Borucki struck out one in a perfect relief inning for Triple-A Buffalo on Thursday, and he felt good afterward. The southpaw is eligible to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list as early as this weekend, and the team is currently in the process of deciding between activating him prior to the All-Star break or giving him another rehab appearance.
