No-decision vs. Brewers Ray did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Brewers, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks over five innings. He didn't record a strikeout.
Impact While Ray was able to limit the damage for the most part Sunday, it was a shaky outing overall for the left-hander, who issued four free passes while failing to record a strikeout for the first time this season. Ray had been pitching well coming into the day, posting a 2.59 ERA in his previous five starts (31.1 innings). Overall, he's 10-6 with a 2.93 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 158:61 K:BB across 27 starts spanning 159.2 innings this season. Ray is currently slated to face the Orioles at home his next time out.

Secures 10th win Ray (10-6) allowed three unearned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out six over 6.2 innings to earn the win over the Padres on Monday.
Impact Ray was nearly untouchable until the Padres found some success in the seventh inning. However, the Giants' four-run first inning was enough to help the southpaw secure his first win since July 3 versus the Diamondbacks. Ray has recorded quality starts in four of his last eight outings, adding a 41:18 K:BB over 47.1 innings in that span. For the season, he's at a 2.85 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 158:57 K:BB through 154.2 innings across 26 starts. Ray is projected to make his next start on the road versus the Brewers.

Takes sixth loss Ray (9-6) allowed four runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over six innings to take the loss versus the Padres on Tuesday.
Impact Ray allowed all four runs over the first four innings, including a two-run home run to the light-hitting Jose Iglesias in the second. The winless stretch is up to seven starts for Ray, but this was just the second time in that span where he's allowed more than two runs. He's at a 2.98 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 152:56 K:BB through 148 innings over 25 starts this season. The veteran southpaw is projected for a rematch with the Padres in San Diego early next week.

Fans eight in no-decision Ray did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Pirates, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over six innings.
Impact Ray settled in after allowing four baserunners and a run in the first inning, generating 15 whiffs on 104 pitches while limiting the Pirates to only one extra-base hit. Since giving up five earned runs in his first start after the All-Star break on July 20, the 33-year-old has yielded just five over his past three outings. He'll take a 2.85 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 148:55 K:BB across 142 innings into a home matchup with the Padres early next week.

Goes seven strong in no-decision Ray did not factor into the decision in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Mets, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with six strikeouts over seven innings.
Impact Ray cruised through six scoreless frames before surrendering a solo homer in the seventh, leaving with a 3-1 lead that the Giants' bullpen couldn't hold in the eighth. While the veteran southpaw has just one win in his past 10 outings, he's yielded three earned runs or fewer in nine of them to go along with five quality starts. He'll carry a 2.85 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 140:53 K:BB ratio across 136 innings into a road matchup with the Pirates next week.

Takes fifth loss Ray (9-5) took the loss Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks over 5.2 innings against the Mets. He struck out three.
Impact The southpaw tossed 5.1 scoreless innings Saturday before a two-RBI double by Mark Vientos ended his outing, and a lack of run support from the Giants handed him the loss. Ray's overall numbers remain strong with a 2.93 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 129 innings in 22 starts, although the veteran's last five starts have more closely aligned with his 3.75 FIP on the season, as he's recorded a 3.52 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 30.2 innings during that stretch.

Impact The southpaw tossed 5.1 scoreless innings Saturday before a two-RBI double by Mark Vientos ended his outing, and a lack of run support from the Giants handed him his fifth loss of the season. Despite the loss, Ray's overall numbers remain strong with a 2.93 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over 129 innings in 22 starts. It's worth noting that the veteran's last five starts have more closely aligned with his 3.75 FIP on the season, as he's recorded a 3.52 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 30.2 innings during that stretch. While his strikeout and walk rates have dipped, Ray's full body of work this season is beginning to resemble his 2021 form, when he earned the AL Cy Young with a 2.84 ERA and 1.04 WHIP across 193.1 innings and 32 regular-season starts for the Blue Jays.
