Sent to Triple-A The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Impact The 25-year-old was called up by Cincinnati in mid-April and immediately received some chances in the outfield, but he'll return to Louisville after going 4-for-33 with 18 strikeouts in 12 big-league games. Continuing his hot start to the season at Triple-A (five homers and a 1.246 OPS in 61 plate appearances), may not be enough for Hinds to get another look in the majors if he's unable to improve upon his 24.6 percent strikeout rate.

On Saturday, he snapped an 0-for-28 slide in the majors dating back to last season when he drove in a run and scored in a 5-4 win. The righty-batter is sharing right field with Will Benson, and it's not a strict platoon. Four of Hinds' five starts have come against right-handers.

The biggest adjustment Hinds made is laying off breaking balls lower in the zone, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. As a result, he improved his walk rate from 8.2 percent the previous two seasons in the minors to 19.7 early in 2026.

With Marte in the minors, Hinds and Will Benson are in line to see the bulk of the playing time in right field for Cincinnati.

Impact Hinds will head back to the minors to begin the new season despite swinging a scorching bat this spring (1.388 OPS). The 25-year-old was a major offensive threat in the minors last season too, as he slashed .302/.359/.563 with 24 homers, 83 RBI, 79 runs scored and 21 steals across 435 plate appearances. If his impressive offensive performance continues into the start of the 2026 Triple-A season, he could earn a spot on the big-league roster relatively soon.

Impact Hinds has delivered a monster spring, going 15-for-38 (.395) with four doubles, one triple, five home runs, 11 RBI and nine runs scored. In any other year, he might be a no-brainer to claim a roster spot, but the Reds have several productive outfielders this spring. At this point, beyond the projected starters, there appear to be two outfield spots available. Hinds, Will Benson (1,038 OPS, four HR), JJ Bleday (1.072, four HR) and Dane Myers (1.180) are still in the mix.

Impact Hinds will end up as the roster casualty necessary to make room for Ke'Bryan Hayes, who was acquired by Cincinnati in a trade with the Pirates on Wednesday.
