Contreras' 3-run homer in the bottom of the 9th gives Brewers 3-1 win over Marlins

William Contreras hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off closer Pete Fairbanks to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 3-1 win over the Miami Marlins

Optioned to Jacksonville Miami optioned Hinds to Jacksonville on Sunday.
Impact After spending just over a week with the big-league club, Hinds will make his way back down to Jacksonville. The 25-year-old logged just two at-bats with the Marlins in his second big-league stint this season and his first with Miami. The Marlins recalled Graham Pauley from Triple-A to take Hinds' spot on the active roster.

Cantillo strikes out 9, Rocchio and DeLauter homer as Guardians beat Marlins to sweep series

JULY 12 • Associated Press
Officially summoned from minors The Marlins recalled Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday.
Impact Hinds is a career .172/.221/.426 hitter with a 42 percent strikeout rate over parts of three major-league seasons, but he has loads of power when he does connect. He would be worth a deep-league flier if he plays regularly while Owen Caissie (calf) is out, but there's no guarantee of at-bats for Hinds.

Coming up from Triple-A The Marlins will recall Hinds from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of Thursday's contest versus the Mariners, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Hinds is expected to take the roster spot of the injured Owen Caissie (calf). Acquired from the Reds via trade in May, the toolsy Hinds is a career .172/.221/.426 hitter with a 42 percent strikeout rate over parts of three major-league seasons. The 25-year-old could see some playing time in Miami's outfield while Caissie is out, but Heriberto Hernandez and/or Esteury Ruiz are also in the mix.

Traded to Marlins The Marlins acquired Hinds from the Reds on Thursday in exchange for Zach McCambley, Isaac Azout of FishOnFirst.com reports.
Impact Hinds had been designated for assignment by Cincinnati and will now get a fresh start in a new organization. The 25-year-old has huge raw power and has slashed .306/.423/.635 with seven home runs in 23 games this season at Triple-A Louisville. The downside with Hinds is that he has major contact issues, having posted a 42 percent strikeout rate thus far at the big-league level. Hinds will likely report to Triple-A Jacksonville initially.

MAY 21 • MLB.COM
Designated for assignment The Reds designated Hinds for assignment Sunday.
Impact Hinds was optioned to Triple-A Louisville in early May after going 4-for-33 with 18 strikeouts in 12 games with the Reds, and he's now lost his place on the 40-man roster. The 25-year-old showcased his power potential in 2024 with five homers in his first 24 big-league games, but he was never able to develop much consistency with a 42 percent strikeout rate across 131 plate appearances in the big leagues.
MAY 17 • ROTOWIRE
Sent to Triple-A The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
Impact The 25-year-old was called up by Cincinnati in mid-April and immediately received some chances in the outfield, but he'll return to Louisville after going 4-for-33 with 18 strikeouts in 12 big-league games. Continuing his hot start to the season at Triple-A (five homers and a 1.246 OPS in 61 plate appearances), may not be enough for Hinds to get another look in the majors if he's unable to improve upon his 24.6 percent strikeout rate.
MAY 3 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Sunday's lineup Hinds is out of the lineup for Sunday's game versus the Tigers.
Impact Hinds has gone 4-for-28 with 14 strikeouts in his first eight games of the season and finds himself on the bench Sunday for the third time in Cincinnati's past four contests. The 25-year-old may not have much more time to get his bat on track before heading back to the minors. JJ Bleday is picking up a start in the outfield Sunday for the Reds.
APRIL 26 • ROTOWIRE
Giving way to Benson on Wednesday Hinds is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays.
Impact Though he appears to have overtaken Will Benson as the Reds' primary right fielder, Hinds will hit the bench Wednesday after four straight starts. Since being called up from Triple-A Louisville on April 14, Hinds has slashed .125/.185/.208 with five RBI and two runs in seven games.
APRIL 22 • ROTOWIRE
Adds insurance runs Hinds went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Sunday's 7-4 extra-inning win over the Twins.
Impact Hinds gave the Reds a cushion in the top of the 10th inning, when he delivered a two-run double. The outfielder, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville last Tuesday, has had an impact on two consecutive wins. On Saturday, he snapped an 0-for-28 slide in the majors dating back to last season when he drove in a run and scored in a 5-4 win. The righty-batter is sharing right field with Will Benson, and it's not a strict platoon. Four of Hinds' five starts have come against right-handers.

APRIL 18 • Associated Press
Not in Cincinnati lineup Hinds is out of the lineup for Friday's contest in Minnesota.
Impact Hinds started each of the last three games after he was promoted from Triple-A Louisville, but he'll grab a seat in this one. Will Benson will patrol right field and bat eighth for the Reds.
APRIL 17 • ROTOWIRE
Hitless in debut Hinds started in right field and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Giants.
Impact Hinds made season debut for the Reds against San Francisco lefty Robbie Ray. The outfielder was recalled earlier in the day to replace Noelvi Marte, who was optioned to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move, and is expected to platoon with lefty-hitting Will Benson in right field. Hinds had a superb spring training, worthy of making the Opening Day roster, but he spent the first weeks of the season in Louisville, where he had a 1.246 OPS and five home runs over 13 games (61 plate appearances). The biggest adjustment Hinds made is laying off breaking balls lower in the zone, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. As a result, he improved his walk rate from 8.2 percent the previous two seasons in the minors to 19.7 early in 2026.
APRIL 15 • ROTOWIRE
Receives call to Cincy The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.
Impact Hinds will receive his first call-up of 2026, joining the Reds' 26-man active roster as a replacement for Noelvi Marte, who was optioned to Triple-A on Monday. The promotion comes after Hinds got off to a banner start with Louisville, slashing .354/.475/.771 with five home runs and one stolen base over 61 plate appearances. With Marte out of the picture, Hinds and Will Benson will vie for playing time in right field.
APRIL 14 • ROTOWIRE
Promotion to majors coming The Reds will recall Hinds from Triple-A Louisville, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Impact He will take the roster spot vacated by Noelvi Marte, who has been optioned to Louisville. Hinds has earned the promotion following a monster start to the season with Louisville, having slashed .354/.475/.771 with five home runs, one stolen base and a 12:15 BB:K across 61 plate appearances. The 25-year-old has big power and speed upside, but the key for him will be making enough contact, as Hinds has struck out at a 38.9 percent clip during his time in the majors and a 31.4 percent rate at the Triple-A level. With Marte in the minors, Hinds and Will Benson are in line to see the bulk of the playing time in right field for Cincinnati.
APRIL 13 • ROTOWIRE
Sent down to Louisville The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.
Impact Hinds will head back to the minors to begin the new season despite swinging a scorching bat this spring (1.388 OPS). The 25-year-old was a major offensive threat in the minors last season too, as he slashed .302/.359/.563 with 24 homers, 83 RBI, 79 runs scored and 21 steals across 435 plate appearances. If his impressive offensive performance continues into the start of the 2026 Triple-A season, he could earn a spot on the big-league roster relatively soon.
MARCH 21 • ROTOWIRE
Bids for roster spot Hinds started at designated hitter and went 2-for-2 with a walk, a double and a solo home run in Wednesday's spring game against the Angels.
Impact Hinds has delivered a monster spring, going 15-for-38 (.395) with four doubles, one triple, five home runs, 11 RBI and nine runs scored. In any other year, he might be a no-brainer to claim a roster spot, but the Reds have several productive outfielders this spring. At this point, beyond the projected starters, there appear to be two outfield spots available. Hinds, Will Benson (1,038 OPS, four HR), JJ Bleday (1.072, four HR) and Dane Myers (1.180) are still in the mix.
MARCH 19 • ROTOWIRE
Sent back to Louisville The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
Impact Hinds will end up as the roster casualty necessary to make room for Ke'Bryan Hayes, who was acquired by Cincinnati in a trade with the Pirates on Wednesday. Hinds owns a .959 OPS through 299 plate appearances in Triple-A this season but hasn't been able to translate it into MLB success, as he's gone just 5-for-43 at the plate in a Reds uniform.
JULY 31, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled from Triple-A The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Impact Hinds will provide some outfield depth while TJ Friedl is on the paternity list. He is likely to be sent back down once Friedl returns later this week.
