Fans three in scoreless outing
Rodriguez threw two scoreless innings in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Rangers, allowing two hits and striking out three.
Impact
Rodriguez worked two innings for the first time this season, throwing 15 of his 24 pitches for strikes while giving up two singles. The 25-year-old has been impressive so far and is the first Giants pitcher since 1901 to record 11 scoreless outings to start the season -- a feat that has been accomplished only 16 times in big-league history. Rodriguez owns a 0.00 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and a 16:0 K:BB across 11.2 innings.

Fans one, secures hold Sunday
Rodriguez allowed one hit while striking out one in two-thirds of an inning during Sunday's 5-4 win over the Mariners.
Impact
Rodriguez entered Sunday's matchup in the sixth frame with one out and two runners on base, allowing an RBI single before retiring Seattle's next two batters. Aside from the single, the 25-year-old was effective during his limited time on the mound, throwing eight of his 13 pitches for strikes while protecting a 4-2 lead. The right-handed reliever has made five appearances this season, recording a 0.00 ERA, 0.56 WHIP, 9:0 K:BB, one win and one hold across 5.1 innings.

Activated from IL
The Giants reinstated Rodriguez (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Elbow inflammation has kept Rodriguez on the injured list since mid-August, but he'll return in time to add depth to San Francisco's bullpen for the final series of the season. Prior to his injury, the 25-year-old rookie put up a 3.93 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 50.1 innings in the bigs, and he'll most likely work in middle relief now that he's healthy again. Mason Black was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Resumes mound work
Rodriguez (elbow) threw 30-pitch bullpen sessions at Oracle Park on Thursday and Sunday, MLB.com reports.
Impact
After being placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 15 with a right elbow flexor strain, Rodriguez was shut down for two weeks before he was cleared to begin a throwing program Sept. 3. He looks to be building up his pitch count through side sessions and should soon be ready to face hitters before likely heading out on a brief minor-league rehab assignment. Rodriguez could make it back from the IL during the final week of the regular season.

Facing multi-week shutdown
Giants manager Bob Melvin said Sunday that Rodriguez (elbow) will be shut down from throwing for at least a couple weeks, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
The right-hander landed on the injured list Thursday due to elbow inflammation, and that diagnosis was confirmed after undergoing an MRI. Rodriguez has yet to be ruled out for the season, but he'll likely need to avoid any setbacks in his recovery to have a chance of rejoining the Giants in late September.

Goes on IL with elbow inflammation
The Giants placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Thursday with right elbow inflammation, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact
Rodriguez will be eligible to return before the end of the month, but given the nature of the injury it's difficult to say at this point whether he has a chance to be ready by that date. Spencer Bivens has been recalled in a corresponding move.

Stuck with second loss
Rodriguez (3-2) allowed an unearned run on one hit over one inning to take the extra-inning loss Tuesday versus Atlanta. He did not issue a walk or strike out a batter.
Impact
Rodriguez gave up an RBI single to Travis d'Arnaud, which plated the initial runner in the 10th inning, and the Giants failed to respond for their second extra-inning loss in a row. While this run wasn't earned, Rodriguez has allowed six runs (five earned) over his last 9.2 innings despite sparse usage since the All-Star break. He's at a 3.93 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 52:16 K:BB through 50.1 innings while adding five holds and a blown save in a low-leverage role this season.

Grabs win Sunday
Rodriguez (3-1) allowed one run on two hits and struck out three over three innings, earning the win over the Rockies on Sunday.
Impact
This was a bullpen game for the Giants, and Rodriguez was their second pitcher in a contest in which they never trailed. Rodriguez was called up as a reinforcement for the bullpen earlier Sunday after Sean Hjelle (personal) went on the bereavement list. For the season, Rodriguez has a 4.11 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 47:15 K:BB while adding five holds over 46 innings through 30 appearances. The right-hander has been effective, but since he threw 45 pitches Sunday, he could soon be optioned out for another fresh reliever.

Returns to majors
The Giants recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The right-hander was optioned to Sacramento on Wednesday but will quickly return to the big leagues as Sean Hjelle (personal) lands on the bereavement list. Rodriguez has made 29 appearances for the Giants this season and has a 4.19 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB across 43 innings.

Sent to Triple-A
The Giants optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.
Impact
With Robbie Ray (elbow) returning from the IL to start Wednesday's game against the Dodgers, Rodriguez will be left without a spot on the Giants' pitching staff. The 24-year-old joined the big-league bullpen in early May and has since posted a 4.19 ERA and 1.16 WHIP while striking out 44 batters through his first 43 career MLB innings.

Strikes out five as opener
Rodriguez allowed a run on one hit and two walks while striking out five over 2.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs on Tuesday.
Impact
Rodriguez made his first career start and had the most work of the Giants' six pitchers in the contest, though he was never going to pitch deep enough to have a chance at the win. He's given up 11 runs over 14.1 innings in June, but he has a 15:4 K:BB in that span that suggests he's got a skill set that can keep him in the majors. For the year, he's at a 4.70 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB over 30.2 innings through 19 appearances. With the Giants' rotation unlikely to gain reinforcements until July, Rodriguez may see a few more opener assignments over the next couple of weeks if manager Bob Melvin opts to protect the pitchers the team has called up to plug holes.

Heads to minor-league camp
Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento by the Giants on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact
The 24-year-old was wild this spring in issuing eight walks over four relief innings. Control problems are nothing new for Rodriguez, who walked 57 across 70 frames in the minors in 2023.

Shielded from Rule 5 draft
Rodriguez was added to the Giants' 40-man roster Friday.
Impact
Rodriguez is a 22-year-old reliever who logged 62 innings in 32 appearances at Low-A last season. Now that he is on the 40-man roster, he could move quickly to the big-league bullpen.
