Will Toffey - Dealt to Phillies Toffey was traded by the Giants to the Phillies on Sunday in exchange for Luke Williams.
Impact Toffey was acquired by the Giants in July of 2021, and he reached Triple-A Sacramento later that season. He hit .270/.407/.378, good for a 107 wRC+. Toffey is entering his age-27 season but has yet to make his major-league debut, and he is likely to remain organizational depth with the Phillies.

Matt Manning - Allows two home runs Saturday Manning allowed four runs (one earned) on five hits across three innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies. He didn't issue a walk and struck out three.
Impact It wasn't a great outing for Manning, as the righty allowed two home runs in his three innings of work, though a few Detroit errors made a lot of the damage unearned. Manning was better in his spring debut Monday, when he allowed just one hit across two scoreless innings. He should have a spot toward the back of the Tigers' rotation when the regular season begins.

Eric Haase - Hits first spring home run Haase went 1-for-2 with a walk and a three-run home run in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies.
Impact Haase relieved Tucker Barnhart and proceeded to hit his first spring home run. Haase is now batting .300 with a 1.162 OPS in Grapefruit League action, while Barnhart is batting just .077 with a .154 OPS. It's a small sample size and still very early, of course, but Haase may be able to secure more playing time during the regular season if he looks this much better at the plate than Barnhart. As it stands, Barnhart is the de facto No. 1 catcher, though the two players could split time fairly evenly to start the year. Haase may also see some time at DH, particularly if the Tigers keep Dustin Garneau on the roster as a third catcher.

Casey Mize - Set for Tuesday The Tigers have an off day in camp Tuesday, but Mize will pitch in a minor-league game against the Yankees that day, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact Mize last pitched in a Grapefruit League game Thursday, so this will keep the righty on his regular schedule of pitching every five days. The 24-year-old has been outstanding through two spring starts, logging five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. He could be in line for a breakout 2022 campaign if he carries over some positive momentum into the regular season.

Kyle Funkhouser - Not throwing yet Funkhouser (lat) is still not playing catch and has no timeline to return, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Impact Funkhouser started dealing with the injury shortly after reporting to camp. Because he has yet to start throwing in any capacity, he is not likely to return before late April. Funkhouser threw 68.1 innings in 2021 and maintained a 3.42 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP for Detroit.

Nick Castellanos - Hitting cleanup in debut Castellanos is hitting fourth and starting in left field in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Blue Jays.
Impact Castellanos signed with the Phillies on March 18 and is appearing in his first game action. Though Sunday's lineup is missing a few key players such as Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm, Castellanos could very well be slotted into the cleanup spot on Opening Day.
