Impact After making three straight starts at first base in place of an injured Rhys Hoskins (elbow), Gosselin will be on the bench for a second consecutive contest while Alec Bohm moves across the diamond to replace him. The injuries to Hoskins and outfielders Jay Bruce (quadriceps) and Kyle Garlick (oblique) would normally put Gosselin in a good position to play regularly, but his slumping bat is beginning to cost him some opportunities. Since the start of September, Gosselin is slashing .130/.286/.217 in 12 games.

Impact Gosselin has been filling the short side of a platoon with Jay Bruce (quadriceps) for much of the season. Even though the latter was placed on the injured list Saturday, Gosselin won't necessarily have a clear path to an everyday role, as the Phillies could choose to rotate a number of regulars at the DH spot while Bruce is sidelined. Gosselin, who has posted a 1.047 OPS in 46 plate appearances this season, should at least keep drawing frequent starts versus left-handed pitching.

Impact Gosselin has typically worked as a short-side platoon partner at DH with Jay Bruce this season, but there will be room for both players in the lineup against Braves southpaw Sean Newcomb with outfielder Andrew McCutchen getting a day off. McCutchen's absence will open up the leadoff spot for Gosselin, though the 31-year-old should bat in the bottom half of the lineup more often than not in any future starts he receives.

Impact Gosselin was a question mark to even make the club heading into the season, but he justified the Phillies' decision to give him a roster spot with a career-best performance in his first game of the campaign. Serving as the team's designated hitter, Gosselin broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run homer in the sixth inning and followed that with a solo shot in the eighth. The power display was certainly unexpected given the fact that Gosselin had previously hit only seven homers in 597 career at-bats. Saturday's effort may earn the 31-year-old more playing time, but fantasy managers would be wise to resist pouring FAAB dollars into acquiring him on the basis of a one-game outburst.
