Charged with blown save
Sewald pitched one inning, giving up two runs on a hit and a walk while striking out two in one inning Tuesday against the Astros.
Impact
Called upon to protect a 4-2 lead in the ninth inning, Sewald walked Jose Altuve to open the frame and later surrendered a two-run homer to Alex Bregman. It was the second time in three outings that he has blown a save but only the second time in his last 12 outings that he was tagged for any earned runs. Since returning from the paternity list Aug. 16, Sewald has posted a 2.25 ERA and 1.25 WHIP.

Earns four-out save
Sewald tossed a four-out save Wednesday in a 1-0 win over the Astros. He allowed two hits and had three strikeouts and zero walks.
Impact
Sewald relieved Drew Steckenrider with two on and two out in the eighth and struck out Carlos Correa to escape the inning. Sewald gave up two one-out singles in the ninth but finished with a flyout and a strikeout to earn his eighth save of the year and his fourth since Aug. 17. He and Steckenrider have alternated picking up the last four saves for the Mariners, and the ninth-inning scenario could become even more cloudy with Diego Castillo (shoulder) set to return over the weekend. Regardless, Sewald has been fantastic this season, pitching to a 2.45 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 79:13 K:BB over 47.2 innings.

Picks up ninth win
Sewald (9-3) got the win in Tuesday's 4-0 dispatching of the Astros, allowing one hit with three strikeouts in one inning.
Impact
Sewald entered a scoreless game in the eighth inning and worked around a Jose Altuve single to record all three outs via the strikeout. He fell in line for the win after Seattle took the lead in the bottom half of the frame. Aside from a poor outing Aug. 5, the 31-year-old delivered a sensational August featuring three wins, saves and holds apiece in 12 appearances.

Trusted in the ninth again
Sewald saved Monday's 5-3 victory over the Athletics, striking out one in a clean ninth.
Impact
After Seattle scored three in the top of the inning, Sewald entered in the ninth and slammed the door on the middle of Oakland's order. The 31-year-old has had himself quite the week since returning from the paternity list Tuesday, recording a win, three saves and a hold in five innings, and appears to be leading Seattle's closer committee.

Clutch strikeouts for eighth win
Sewald (8-3) recorded the victory in an extra-innings win over the Astros on Sunday, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out the side in a scoreless 10th inning.
Impact
The right-hander got himself into immediate trouble by allowing a leadoff single to Jose Altuve that pushed inning-opening pinch-runner Lance McCullers to third. However, after an intentional walk to Michael Brantley loaded the bases, Sewald impressively bore down to strike out Carlos Correa, Jason Castro and Yuli Gurriel, with the last two punchouts featuring swinging third strikes. Sewald has developed into an excellent fantasy reliever, complementing his eight victories with six saves and 10 holds while filling a variety of later-inning roles.

Grabs sixth save
Sewald allowed an unearned run on one hit and no walks while striking out one across one inning to earn the save Thursday against the Rangers.
Impact
Sewald pitched the 11th inning and was given a two-run lead to work with. He allowed only a two-out single, though that allowed the runner that began on second base to score. Sewald recorded the final out one batter later, and he now has six saves on the season. It is worth noting that Diego Castillo was brought into the game in a save situation in the ninth inning, though he surrendered a three-run home run to lose the lead. In addition to Castillo and Sewald, Drew Steckenrider has also factored into the Mariners' closer picture of late. Sewald has two of the team's five saves since Castillo was added to the roster.

Notches fifth save
Sewald pitched a scoreless ninth inning on one hit while striking out one, earning the save in the win over the Rangers on Tuesday.
Impact
Sewald entered the ninth inning with a two-run lead and secured his fifth save in his first appearance since being reinstated from the paternity list. The 31-year-old is a part of Seattle's closer-by-committee approach. He received the ninth inning while Diego Castillo filled the eighth. Castillo is 1-for-3 in save opportunities since joining the Mariners at the trade deadline. Sewald has a 2.77 ERA in 39 innings and is 5-for-7 in save opportunities.

Impact
