Escapes trouble Tuesday Sewald allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Rangers.

Impact Sewald again flirted with danger, allowing multiple baserunners for the fourth time in nine outings since he joined the Diamondbacks. He's only paid for it once in a blown save versus the Twins on Aug. 6 -- he's kept runs off the board in his other eight appearances. Sewald is at a 3.00 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 70:19 K:BB with 27 saves in 31 chances over 51 innings this year. He'll need to cut back on the traffic on the basepaths to continue to turn in strong results as the Arizona closer.

Secures 26th save Sewald recorded his 26th save of the season in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of the Padres, walking two batters in a scoreless ninth inning.

Impact The outing was very nearly a disaster for the former Mariner. Sewald also hit Garrett Cooper with a pitch, eventually loading the bases with two outs, but Juan Soto's drive to left-center field died on the warning track rather than clearing the fence for a walk-off grand slam. Sewald's converted five straight save chances after blowing his first one for Arizona following his acquisition at the trade deadline, but he's been far from impressive for his new club with a 4.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB through six innings. Barring a complete collapse, however, his spot in the ninth inning appears secure.

Dealt to Arizona The Mariners traded Sewald to the Diamondbacks on Monday in exchange for Dominic Canzone, Josh Rojas and Ryan Bliss, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Impact This is a great landing spot for Sewald as it pertains to his fantasy value, as he shouldn't have any competition for saves in Arizona. The Diamondbacks had been using a committee approach to the ninth inning, and Sewald has a 2.93 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 21 saves in 43 innings this season.
