Getting starts at third base Kemp has started both games since his call-up at third base but has yet to record a hit, going 0-for-5 with a walk and three strikeouts.

Impact Kemp was called up Saturday after Bryce Harper (wrist) was placed on the injured list, and it looks like he wasn't called up just to sit on the bench. The 25-year-old, who was signed as an undrafted free agent back in 2022, recorded a 1.010 OPS in 58 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season and had an .881 OPS in 123 games across four levels of the minors in 2024, though he's been old for his level throughout his minor-league career.

Gets first big-league call-up The Phillies recalled Kemp from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Impact Kemp has impressed at the Triple-A level this season, slashing .313/.416/.594 with 14 home runs, 19 doubles, 55 RBI, 49 runs and 11 stolen bases over 58 games. His versatility is also an asset, as Kemp has has logged time at both corner-infield positions as well as at second base and in left field in the minors this season. His promotion comes as a corresponding move to Bryce Harper (wrist) landing on the injured list Saturday.

Hot start at Triple-A Kemp is slashing .331/.423/.662 with 10 home runs, five steals and a 27 percent strikeout rate in 35 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Impact Kemp has started 19 games at third base, seven games at first base and six games at second base while logging the second-highest wRC+ (184) in the International League. His .419 BABIP illustrates how fortunate Kemp has been in the early going, but he's nonetheless looking ready for his first taste of the majors if the Phillies deal with any injuries to their infield.

Finishing season at Triple-A Kemp was promoted from Double-A Reading to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sept. 6.

Impact The promotion was an early birthday present, as Kemp turned 25 a few days later. Injuries in high school and college led to Kemp taking a circuitous route to gaining legitimate prospect status, but this year he logged a 173 wRC+ at High-A and a 137 wRC+ at Double-A before hitting a bit of a wall initially against Triple-A pitching (14 Ks, .167 AVG in 10 games). A quality defender at third base, Kemp can also handle the keystone and has good instincts on the bases. Given his age, we can largely throw out what he did in the lower levels, but Kemp's .258/.353/.476 slash line, 11 home runs, nine steals and 22.7 percent strikeout rate in 64 games at Double-A was good enough to get him on the radar for 2025.
