INJURIES

Missing out on start this weekend Bido isn't in line to make a turn through the rotation during this weekend's series versus the Tigers, as Brady Basso and J.T. Ginn have been confirmed to start Saturday and Sunday...
Impact Bido looked on track for a two-start week after he gave up four runs over 5.1 innings in his outing against the Mariners on Monday, but he'll instead have his next start pushed bak until at least next week following the Athletics' call-up of Basso, who was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday. Manager Mark Kotsay didn't shed much light on why Bido was bypassed for a start Saturday or Sunday, but given how well the right-hander has performed of late, his absence from the rotation this weekend could point to him dealing with a yet-to-be-disclosed injury. Dating back to the beginning of August, Bido had gone 3-1 with a 2.36 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 32:10 K:BB in 34.1 innings.

Allows four runs in no-decision Bido did not factor into the decision in Monday's 5-4 win against the Mariners, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Impact Bido entered the sixth inning with a 4-2 lead but yielded two runs on three hits before being lifted at 91 pitches. The 28-year-old ended a run of five consecutive starts allowing two earned runs or fewer and surrendered a home run for the first time since July 28. On the season, he owns a 3.52 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 60:25 K:BB across 61.1 innings and lines up to face the Tigers on Saturday.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Quality start in no-decision Bido came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 9-6 win over the Reds, allowing two runs on three hits over six innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
Impact It was another sharp performance from Bido, who delivered his fourth quality start in five August outings on 84 pitches (54 strikes). The right-hander left the mound in line for his sixth win, but the Oakland bullpen melted down in the seventh inning, only for the offense to rally in the eighth. Bido has a 1.55 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 28:9 K:BB through 29 innings on the month, and he'll look to stay hot in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Mariners.

Takes win against Rays Bido (5-3) picked up the win Thursday against Tampa Bay, allowing one run on two hits and three walks across five-plus innings. He struck out six.
Impact After tossing back-to-back shutout starts, Bido was excellent once again Thursday. He allowed two or fewer hits in for a third consecutive start and punched out six batters for the fifth time in his last six outings. After posting a sub-par 5.86 ERA with the Pirates in 2023, Bido has a 3.24 ERA and a 51:24 K:BB across 50 innings this season. The 28-year-old is tentatively scheduled to face the Reds in Cincinnati next.

Dazzles again in win Bido (4-3) allowed a hit and two walks while striking out six over six shutout innings to earn the win Saturday over the Giants.
Impact Bido has turned in consecutive starts of six scoreless innings. The right-hander has posted a quality start in all three of his outings in August, allowing just three runs (two earned) over 18 innings while adding a 17:6 K:BB. For the season, Bido has a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 45:21 K:BB through 45 innings over 12 appearances (six starts). He's emerged as a reliable starter for Oakland, and he's projected to make his next start at home versus the Rays.

Throws six scoreless in win Bido (3-3) earned the win against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out five across six scoreless innings.
Impact Bido followed up his first quality start of the season Sunday with the best start of his career, silencing the Blue Jays in a 1-0 victory. He generated 11 swinging strikes on 89 pitches and did not allow a single hard-hit ball. On the season, the 28-year-old owns a 3.92 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 39:19 K:BB across 39 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Giants next weekend.

Stuck with loss Sunday Bido (2-3) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out six over six innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Dodgers.
Impact Bido earned his first quality start with his longest outing of the year, but he wasn't able to avoid his second loss in a row. The right-hander avoided giving up a home run in a third straight start, but he's posted a 12:7 K:BB over his last 9.2 innings, and it will be tough for him to find steady success if his walk rate remains high. For the year, he's at a 4.64 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 34:18 K:BB over 33 innings across 10 appearances (four starts). He's tentatively projected to make his next start at Toronto.
AUGUST 5, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Hit hard in Sunday's start Bido (2-2) took the loss against the Angels on Sunday, allowing seven earned runs on six hits, four walks and a hit batsman over 3.2 innings. He struck out six.
Impact Bido's swing-and-miss numbers weren't bad, but he otherwise had a rough go of it against what had been a light-hitting Angels squad. He actually cruised through his first two frames, but his unraveling began in a third inning during which the Angels sliced a 6-0 deficit in half via a Luis Rengifo RBI groundout and Willie Calhoun two-run single. Bido then issued three walks and a go-ahead grand slam to Taylor Ward in the fourth, putting the right-hander on the hook for the eventual loss. The 28-year-old saw his ERA shoot up from 3.09 to 5.00 with the rocky outing, but Bido is likely to remain in the rotation for the time being and projects to draw an unenviable matchup in the Dodgers for his next start this coming weekend.
JULY 29, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Stays in rotation Bido is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Angels in Anaheim.
Impact Bido appeared to be in line for just a spot start when he was called upon Tuesday to take the hill against the Astros. However, after striking out six while allowing just one run over five innings en route to picking up a win, Bido will get at least one more opportunity to stake a claim to a more permanent spot in the Oakland rotation. The Athletics cleared up their logjam in the rotation by optioning Hogan Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday and by shifting Joey Estes to the bullpen earlier this weekend.
JULY 28, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Pitches five strong innings Bido (2-1) got the win over the Astros on Tuesday, allowing one run on four hits while striking out six over five innings.
Impact Bido made his second start of the season and his first since May 8 when he debuted this year and made easy work of a tough Astros lineup. His lone mistake was serving up a solo home run to Victor Caratini in the third. Bido struggled with his control early on in the year, evidenced by his 11 walks over his first 14.1 innings pitched this season. However, he's turned things around by issuing zero free passes over his last nine innings. Bido's five innings and six strikeouts also matched a season high. The 28-year-old owns a 3.09 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 22:11 K:BB in 23.1 innings and could end up permanently slotting into the Athletics' fifth rotation spot with Luis Medina being diagnosed with a right elbow sprain. Should Bido get another start, it would come this weekend against the Angels.
JULY 24, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Slated to start Tuesday The Athletics list Bido as their starting pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Astros in Oakland.
Impact Bido made a spot start with the Athletics in May and nine starts at Triple-A Las Vegas earlier this season, but he's worked exclusively out of the bullpen since getting called up to Oakland on June 21. After tossing a scoreless inning in Friday's 13-3 win over the Angels, Bido will be taking the hill Tuesday on three days' rest, though he needed just eight pitches to retire the side in the relief outing. Bido likely won't be asked to handle a typical starter's workload Tuesday, but he should be capable of giving the Athletics four or five innings if he's able to work efficiently.
JULY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Dazzles for first victory Bido (1-1) got the win over the Phillies on Friday, firing three scoreless innings during which he allowed one hit and recorded two strikeouts.
Impact Bido once again helped bail out the Athletics after a ragged performance by a starting pitcher, working the fourth, fifth and sixth innings in nearly impeccable fashion after Hogan Harris significantly struggled with his control. Three of Bido's five appearances since returning to the big-league club June 21 have been of the multi-inning variety, and he's mustered a 1.42 ERA without allowing a home run during the 12.2 innings in that span.
JULY 13, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to action at Triple-A Bido (finger) started Saturday for Triple-A Las Vegas in the club's 11-3 loss to El Paso, covering four innings and striking out three while allowing four earned runs on five hits...
Impact After being called up from Las Vegas on May 8, Bido started the second game of the Athletics' doubleheader with the Rangers that day but exited midway through the third inning after developing a blister on his pitching hand. He was returned to Las Vegas two days later, but he didn't start last week while he was given more time to heal up from the finger issue. Ostensibly healthy again, Bido should continue to make regular turns out of the Las Vegas rotation but will be near the top of the list for a call-up if the Athletics should require a spot starter again.
MAY 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Sent back to Triple-A The Athletics optioned Bido to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.
Impact Bido served as the Athletics' 27th man in last Wednesday's doubleheader with the Rangers. He started the second game of the twin bill and was dealt the loss after giving up four earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four across 2.2 innings in a 12-11 Rangers victory. Bido dealt with a blister on the middle finger of his throwing hand, so it's unclear if he'll be ready to start when his next turn through Las Vegas' rotation comes up.

Pitcher Osvaldo Bido gets $750,000 deal from Oakland A's after Pittsburgh Pirates let him go

Right-hander Osvaldo Bido agreed to a one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics after he was let go by the Pittsburgh Pirates
NOVEMBER 21, 2023 • Associated Press
Strikes deal with Oakland Bido agreed to a major-league deal with the Athletics on Monday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact After being non-tendered by Pittsburgh on Friday, Bido quickly recaptured a 40-man roster spot with another organization in rebuilding mode. The 28-year-old right-hander reached the majors for the first time in 2023, going 2-5 with a 5.86 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 48:21 K:BB over 50.2 innings spanning 16 appearances (nine starts) with the Pirates. Bido has two minor-league options remaining, so if he falls short in his bid for an Opening Day roster spot with the Athletics, he'll provide rotation depth at the Triple-A level.
