Falls to San Diego
Bido (1-1) took the loss Wednesday against the Padres, allowing two runs on nine hits across five innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Bido did a good job of limiting the damage against a potent Padres offense. However, a pair of runs proved enough to stick the right-hander with his first loss in a 2-1 defeat. The 29-year-old Bido now has a 3.00 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through his first three starts (15 innings) this season. He's currently in line to face the White Sox in his next outing.

Five strikeouts in no-decision
Bido didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-3 win over the Rockies, allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters in five innings.
Impact
Unfortunately for Bido, the Athletics' offense woke up too late for the 29-year-old to collect his second win in as many starts. However, he did a nice job to make sure only a couple of runners came around to score despite allowing quite a bit of traffic on the basepaths. He'll carry a 2.70 ERA and 1.50 WHIP into his next start, which is lined up to come at home against the Padres.

Nabs win in season debut
Bido (1-0) earned the victory in Saturday's start against Seattle, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out four batters over five-plus inning...
Impact
Bido wasn't particularly sharp in the outing, as he issued four free passes, hit two batters and threw just 45 of 81 pitches for strikes. However, he limited the Mariners to just one earned run (due in part to inducing two double plays) and emerged with the win. Bido posted a 3.7 BB/9 in each of his first two big-league seasons, so control hasn't been his strong point. However, he's locked into a spot in Oakland's rotation and has some fantasy upside after posting a 3.41 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 9.0 K/9 in his first season with the Athletics last year.

Wins spot in rotation
Bido has won a spot in the Athletics rotation, manager Mark Kotsay told Martin Gallegos of MLB.com.
Impact
Bido entered camp with seemingly a lock on a rotation spot but has struggled with a 9.24 ERA this spring with five home runs allowed in 10.2 innings. Bido made a strong impression with a 3.41 ERA and 24.3 percent strikeout rate last season. He could be a late bloomer age 29.

Impact
Bido made a strong impression with a 3.41 ERA and 24.3% K% last season and A's management entered spring training pretty convinced he'd be part of the rotation. His improvement in Wednesday's start should help him stay in the rotation.

Allows four home runs
Bido gave up eight earned runs over 3.1 innings and allowed four home runs in Friday's spring training loss to Cleveland.
Impact
Bido entered spring training with a lead on a rotation spot, but he's struggled by allowing 11 earned runs in 7.2 innings with a 11:5 K:BB ratio. He still has time to win the No. 4 or No. 5 starter role, however.

Still idle after IL placement
Bido (wrist) is with the Athletics but has yet to begin playing catch since going on the IL on Sept. 10, MLB.com reports.
Impact
Bido had been dealing with the wrist issue for several starts before finally getting to the point where he was having difficulty gripping the ball, so his recovery could potentially carry through the end of the regular season. Manager Mark Kotsay remains hopeful the promising right-hander will be able to make it back for at least one more start, yet time is working against Bido at this point with less than two weeks remaining in the 2024 campaign.

Goes on IL with wrist injury
The Athletics placed Bido on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right wrist flexor tendinitis.
Impact
Bido had been slated to start Tuesday in Houston but instead is headed to the IL for at least the next two weeks. It's not yet clear who will now be the starting pitcher for the Athletics on Tuesday. Bido has been a bright spot in Oakland's rotation this season, collecting a 3.41 ERA and 63:26 K:BB over 63.1 innings covering nine starts and seven relief appearances.

Rejoining rotation Tuesday
Bido is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Astros, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
The right-hander produced two scoreless innings out of the bullpen Saturday against Detroit, but he'll move back into the rotation for the series opener in Houston on Tuesday. Bido has a 2.23 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 35:11 K:BB across 36.1 frames in his past seven appearances.

Will re-enter rotation this week
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said that Bido will be reinserted into the rotation during the upcoming week after working out of the bullpen in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Tigers, Je...
Impact
Kotsay noted that the Athletics initially planned to rest Bido through the weekend, but after a 13-inning game Friday, the right-hander was made available out of the bullpen Saturday. Bido struck out three over two scoreless innings behind starter Brady Basso, who was subsequently optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday. Kotsay didn't specify when Bido's next start will be, but since he's less rested than JP Sears, Joey Estes and Mitch Spence, Bido presumably won't be used during the upcoming three-game series with the Astros and could instead take the hill for Thursday's series opener versus the White Sox.
