Miguel Andújar - Not certain to return this season Manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that he isn't sure whether Andujar (wrist) will be able to return in 2021, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Andujar began a rehab assignment in mid-August but suffered an apparent setback in his recovery recently. As a result, his rehab assignment was shut down, and he was transferred to the 60-day injured list Monday. While the Yankees were initially optimistic that Andujar could return to minor-league game action in the near future, it's now less clear whether he'll have enough time to recover in time to rejoin the big-league club by the end of the year.

Clint Frazier - 2021 return uncertain Manager Aaron Boone said Sunday that he's uncertain whether Frazier (eye) will be able to return in 2021, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Frazier has been sidelined since the end of June due to an eye condition, and he was transferred to the 60-day injured list after his rehab assignment was shut down in mid-August. The Yankees haven't indicated when the 26-year-old could resume a rehab assignment, so he's running out of time to return to the major-league club with just over a month remaining in the regular season.

Domingo Germán - Nearing bullpen session German (shoulder) played catch this weekend and could soon throw a bullpen session, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Impact It was previously reported German was expected to throw a bullpen session this weekend, but he apparently wasn't quite ready for mound work after experiencing some soreness following a bullpen session Aug. 18. The 29-year-old will need to continue ramping up his throwing program to have a chance of rejoining the Yankees for the stretch run.

Gleyber Torres - Expected to return Friday Torres (thumb) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list Friday, Lindsey Adler of The Athletic reports.

Impact Torres will appear in rehab games Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and he's slated to rejoin the major-league club ahead of Friday's series opener against the Orioles. The 24-year-old suffered a sprained left thumb Aug. 8 but is slated to return to action after missing just under a month.

Andrew Velazquez - Gets Sunday off Velazquez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Impact Tyler Wade will get the nod at shortstop in the series finale, ending a streak of nine consecutive starts for Velazquez. Though Velazquez performed well during that stretch -- he hit .290 with five extra-base hits and three stolen bases -- and clearly appears to be ahead of Wade on the depth chart, both players are expected to see their playing time dwindle in the near future. Gleyber Torres (thumb) began a rehab assignment at Double-A Somerset on Sunday and is expected to return from the injured list next weekend, at which point Velazquez will shift into a utility role.
