Reports to Triple-A Memphis Gorman has been assigned to Triple-A Memphis after spending the past week at the Cardinals' spring training complex in Florida to rework his swing, Jim Hayes of Cardinals.TV report...
Impact Gorman worked with hitting director Dalton Hurd and minor-league hitting coordinator Brock Hammit on a flatter attack angle with his swing. The hope is that it will allow Gorman -- who is hitting .194/.279/.318 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate this season -- to make more contact, and he is ready to test things out at the Cardinals' top minor-league affiliate.

Reworking swing away from games Gorman has yet to play in any games since being optioned last week, instead reporting to the Cardinals' spring training complex in Florida to rework his swing, Derrick Goold of the...
Impact Gorman has slashed just .194/.279/.318 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate this season, and he was in a 3-for-50 slump at the time of his demotion. The 26-year-old relocated to Florida at the start of the week and on Wednesday began working with hitting director Dalton Hurd and minor-league hitting coordinator Brock Hammit. Gorman's primary goal, according to president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom, is to "get his swing to a less steep place." As part of their player development overhaul, the Cardinals opened a revamped training facility this year in Florida, and Bloom believes "this is the most-equipped we've been as a staff and programs and facilities to be able to do something like this." Once the team feels he's ready, Gorman will eventually be assigned to Triple-A Memphis to test out his progress in games. Blaze Jordan has taken over as the Cardinals' everyday third baseman since Gorman's demotion and has played well, slashing .300/.323/.533 with one home run and seven RBI in eight games.

Optioned following extended slump The Cardinals optioned Gorman to Triple-A Memphis on Friday, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Impact Gorman is slashing a feeble .194/.279/.318 with a 32.3 percent strikeout rate this season, and he's gone 3-for-50 with a 5:27 BB:K over his last 17 contests. The 26-year-old will attempt to get his swing right at Memphis, but Gorman's days as a regular in St. Louis might be over.
JUNE 12 • ROTOWIRE
Heading to bench Wednesday Gorman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
Impact Gorman reached base on a pair of walks in Tuesday's 7-0 win in the series opener, but he remains stuck in prolonged dry spell at the dish. Dating back to May 20, Gorman has gone just 3-for-47 (.064 average) with one extra-base hit (a solo home run) while striking out at a 48.1 percent clip. The Cardinals will continue to shield Gorman from left-handed pitching, and he could be at risk of falling into more of a part-time role versus right-handers if he's unable to get going soon.

Snaps slump with homer Tuesday Gorman went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-4 loss against the Rangers.
Impact Gorman provided St. Louis with a spark in the fourth inning, taking Nathan Eovaldi deep for his seventh homer of the season. The blast came at a much-needed time for the infielder, who has been in a brutal slump over the previous few weeks, batting just 2-for-33 (.061) without an RBI while carrying a staggering 52.8 percent strikeout rate during that stretch. Gorman is now slashing .209/.291/.342 with four doubles, 26 RBI and 18 runs scored across 213 plate appearances.
