The veteran slugger got St. Louis off to a fast start with a first-inning two-run shot to left field, and he added a solo homer in the third. Arenado has gone deep three times in his past two contests following a 14-game stretch during which he homered only once. He has swatted 29 long balls in his first campaign with the Cardinals, adding 32 doubles, 88 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

The third baseman took Sonny Gray deep in the fourth inning, but the Cards were already in an 11-1 hole at that point.
