Dazzles in major-league debut Cameron (1-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Rays after allowing one hit and five walks in 6.1 scoreless innings. He struck out three.

Impact Making his major-league debut, Cameron fired six-plus innings of one-hit ball despite struggling with his control. The left-hander took a no-hit bid into the seventh frame, but Curtis Mead broke it up to bring Cameron's impressive night to an end. It's possible Wednesday was just a spot start for Cameron, as Cole Ragans (groin) has been able to avoid the injured list to this point. However, Cameron's next turn in the rotation does tentatively line up for next week versus the White Sox, who entered Wednesday ranked last in batting average (.208), so he would have plenty of streaming appeal in the event that Ragans isn't ready to start.

Recalled ahead of MLB debut The Royals recalled Cameron from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday.

Impact Cameron is set to make his major-league debut Wednesday with a start against the Rays, filling in for the injured Cole Ragans (groin). The left-handed Cameron has posted a 3.22 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 27:8 K:BB in 22.1 innings through his five starts with Omaha this season. Kansas City expects Ragans to be ready for his next turn, so as things stand right now it's likely to be just a spot start for Cameron before he returns to Omaha.

Set to get the call-up Royals' manager Matt Quatraro said Cameron will be called up for Wednesday's start at Tampa Bay, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Impact Cameron will start in place of Cole Ragans, who is nursing a groin injury. Cameron has started in five games for Triple-A Omaha to begin 2025 and he has posted a 3.22 ERA across 22.1 innings in that frame. This will be the 25-year-old's MLB debut.

Contending for rotation spot? Cameron could be a candidate to make the Royals' Opening Day rotation with a strong spring, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Impact Cameron entered camp as a long shot to make the Opening Day roster, as the Royals already have plenty of solid talent in their big-league rotation. However, with Alec Marsh (shoulder) and Kyle Wright (shoulder/hamstring) both dealing with injuries, the competition for the fifth spot in Kansas City's starting unit has thinned out, opening the door for Cameron. The 25-year-old southpaw only reached Triple-A in July of last season, but he turned in a 2.32 ERA and 1.02 WHIP alongside a 62:11 K:BB in 54.1 innings over nine starts at Omaha. He threw two scoreless innings in his first spring training appearance Friday.
