Getting sixth straight start Sogard will start at third base and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Astros, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Impact Sogard will stick in the lineup for a sixth consecutive game, this time manning third base while Rafael Devers gets a rare rest day. The rookie's previous five starts came at second base and shortstop, and the Red Sox should continue to have a near-everyday role available for Sogard in the infield while he's swinging a hot bat and while Tyler O'Neill (lower leg) is on the shelf.

Steals first career base Sogard went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Friday's 8-4 loss to the Astros.

Impact Sogard was active on the basepaths all night, reaching three times and scoring twice. He was a pest in the fourth inning, stealing his first career base and then scoring on an errant pickoff attempt. The 26-year-old has reached base in each of his first seven major-league games with two multi-hit efforts and seven runs scored.

Tyler O'Neill missed both of those two matchups against righties and had been viewed as day-to-day until he was placed on the injured list Wednesday with an infection in his left lower leg. With O'Neill now in line for at least a week-long absence, Sogard could have an opportunity to see continued reps versus righties after opening his big-league career with five hits and two walks through his first 18 plate appearances. However, the Red Sox brought back the left-handed-hitting Enmanuel Valdez from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move Wednesday, and he could challenge Sogard for O'Neill's vacant spot in the lineup versus righties.

Impact Sogard, who started three of the four games since having his contract selected from Triple-A Worcester, has hit safely in all three. The rookie went 4-for-12 with two walks, two RBI and three runs scored in the majors. As Vaughn Grissom (hamstring) nears the end of his rehab assignment, Sogard's days with the Red Sox could come to end by the end of the week.

Impact Sogard, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, made his MLB debut. He got the start at second base over a slumping David Hamilton -- three for his last 33 with 10 strikeouts -- but Red Sox manager Alex Cora said he plans to use Hamilton against right-handers going forward, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

The 26-year-old will get his first taste of the majors against Rangers right-hander Jose Urena.

Impact Sogard is slated to start at second base against left-handed pitching and will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. The 26-year-old has slashed .279/.382/.439 with 12 homers and 10 steals in 89 games with Worcester this season. Sogard has experience at every position other than pitcher and catcher, so he could bounce around to different spots, if needed.
