Nick Sandlin - Page 12 - MLB News, Rumors, & Updates

Perfect inning in spring debut Sandlin (shoulder) struck out two in a perfect inning in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners.

Impact Sandlin ended 2021 with a shoulder strain that cost him the final seven weeks of the season. Now healthy, the right-hander should be in contention for a high-leverage bullpen role, though he's unlikely to unseat Emmanuel Clase as closer. Sandlin went 1-1 with five holds, a 2.94 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 48:17 K:BB across 33.2 innings as a rookie last season.

Transferred to 60-day IL Sandlin (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Impact The transaction officially ends Sandlin's season, as he hit the 10-day injured list with a strained right shoulder in mid-August. He'll finish his rookie season with a strong 2.94 ERA and 34.0 percent strikeout rate in 33.2 innings, though the shoulder issue could be something to worry about heading into next season.
