INJURIES

Called up, starting Friday Pratto was called up from Triple-A Omaha and will start Friday against the Rays, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
Impact After being sent down to Triple-A on Sunday, Pratto will return to the big leagues ahead of the Royals' first series of the second half Friday. The 23-year-old will replace Edward Olivares (quadriceps) on the active roster after he was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday. Pratto is starting at first base and batting seventh against Tampa Bay.

Returned to minors The Royals optioned Pratto to Triple-A Omaha following Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Blue Jays.
Impact With its four-game series in Toronto now complete, the Royals are set to add the 10 players currently on the restricted list back to the 26-man active roster in advance of the team's first game out of the All-Star break July 22 against the Rays. Pratto will be one of several replacement players who will head back to the minors as a result, spelling an official end to his first stint in the big leagues. He started at first base in all four games in Toronto, going 4-for-14 with a solo home run, a double and a walk while striking out four times.

Called up, starting Thursday The Royals recalled Pratto from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday. He'll start at first base and bat sixth in the Royals' series opener in Toronto.
Impact Of the minor-league players that the Royals called up for their four-game series in Toronto after 10 players on the 26-man active roster were placed on the restricted list due to their vaccination statuses, Pratto is one of the more prominent names. The 24-year-old will reach the big leagues for the first time after he slashed .240/.374/.484 with 17 home runs and eight stolen bases across 337 plate appearances. With the Blue Jays set to bring four right-handed starting pitchers to the hill this weekend, the lefty-hitting Pratto should find himself in the lineup each time, but he may need a big series at the plate to ensure he sticks around with Kansas City following the All-Star break.

On fire lately Pratto has hit .375/.531/.875 -- good for a 1.406 OPS -- with four homers and an 8:6 BB:K over his last seven games for Triple-A Omaha.
Impact Pratto's strikeout-heavy tendencies have likely been the primary factor that has held him back from the big leagues this year, so it's promising to see him seemingly turning the corner recently. He's offered fairly steady power production (17 homers) with a bit of complementary speed (eight steals) throughout the year, but his .240 batting average and 30.6 percent strikeout rate (even factoring in the recent hot streak) offer obvious cause for concern about his ability to make a near-term impact in the big leagues. If he can maintain his recent plate-control improvements, he'll boost his stock significantly.

Back from injured list Pratto (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Omaha. He'll bat second and play first base versus Triple-A Iowa.
Impact Pratto saw just a minimum stint on the injured list. He'll look to build upon a solid start to the season that saw him slash .250/.323/.477 with five home runs, 17 RBI, 14 runs scored and two stolen bases in his first 23 games.
MAY 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Lands on injured list Pratto (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list by Triple-A Omaha on Thursday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact There was no specific reason reported for Pratto landing on the injured list, though he was hit in the head by a pitch Wednesday and immediately removed from the game. The timing of the incident is unfortunate, as Pratto was in the midst of a four-game hitting streak while going for 8-for-16 with a double and two home runs. Assuming the injury isn't a long-term concern, Pratto should have the chance to make his big-league debut this season.

Heating up Pratto has gone 7-for-12 with a double and two homers across the last three games for Triple-A Omaha, lifting his season line to .253/323/.494 with five homers, 16 RBI and two stea...
Impact Pratto opened this season in an ugly slump, striking out at an alarming pace, but he's tightened up his approach at the dish recently, drawing more walks and trimming that whiff rate a bit. There's still a lot of swing-and-miss in his game, but that becomes a lot easier to forgive when you consider that he's hit 41 homers and swiped 14 bags across his last 145 minor-league games. With incumbent first baseman Carlos Santana batting .159 with just one homer this year, Pratto will certainly have the opportunity to hit his way into a midseason promotion.

Sent to Omaha Pratto was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Monday.
Impact Pratto looked solid at the dish to start spring training, going 5-for-15 with a home run, three RBI, one stolen base and seven runs scored, but he'll start the year at Triple-A, as anticipated. He hit .250 with 21 homers, 55 RBI and five stolen bags over 63 games a season ago with the Storm Chasers.
MARCH 29, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Strong start to spring Pratto went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run in Friday's 5-5 tie against the Rangers.
Impact Pratto is one of the Royals' top prospects, and he's off to a good start in spring training. The first baseman slashed .259/.367/.634 with 21 home runs, 55 RBI, 54 runs scored and five stolen bases in 63 games after a midseason promotion to Triple-A Omaha last year. Much of the focus in Kansas City is on top overall prospect Bobby Witt, but Pratto's call to the big leagues could also come in 2022. He's got great power, but he also struck out at a 28.5 percent clip last year at the Triple-A level.

Rewarded with 40-man roster spot Pratto was added to Kansas City's 40-man roster Friday.
