Denied spot on Opening Day roster The Red Sox reassigned Crook to minor-league camp Monday.

Impact Crook, 27, reached the big leagues for the first time in 2022 as a member of the Cubs, but after electing free agency in November and then catching on with Boston on a minor-league deal, he was never considered a likely candidate to win a reserve spot on the Red Sox's Opening Day roster. The outfielder is expected to report to Triple-A Worcester to begin the upcoming season.

Signs with Boston Crook signed a minor-league contract with the Red Sox on Wednesday, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Impact Crook became a free agent earlier this month after being cast off the Cubs' 40-man roster, but he was able to land a roster spot with Boston. He spent most of the 2022 season at Triple-A Iowa and slashed .260/.345/.492 with 19 home runs, 67 RBI, 61 runs and 13 stolen bases over 101 games.
