INJURIES

Pitches poorly in no-decision Parker allowed four runs on six hits and four walks while striking out five batters over 3.1 innings in a no-decision in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader with Pittsburgh.
Impact Parker fell behind quickly in the contest, allowing a pair of runs in the first inning and another in the second. He was able to get through a scoreless third but was pulled in the fourth after allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base (he was credited with one out when Alika Williams was thrown out trying to score on a double). Overall, Parker threw just 46 of 78 pitches for strikes and tied a season high with four free passes. This was the third time across his past five starts that he's failed to complete more than four frames.

Fans eight in defeat Parker (7-9) took the loss Sunday against the Cubs, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out eight in six innings.
Impact Parker matched his season-best with eight punchouts, throwing a whopping 72 percent of his pitches for strikes. The 24-year-old pitched well despite taking the loss, allowing one extra-base hit while notching his 10th quality start of the season. Parker now owns a respectable 4.27 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 117:35 K:BB in 132.2 innings (25 starts). Parker will look to get back in the win column his next time out, currently scheduled for next weekend in Pittsburgh.

Takes loss vs Yankees Parker (7-8) took the loss against the Yankees on Monday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over four innings. He struck out five.
Impact Parker gave up a leadoff home run to Gleyber Torres and had to battle his way to get through four innings, just allowing two runs. Parker's up-and-down campaign continues, as he's allowed two runs or fewer in five of his last six starts, but in between those games he allowed nine runs vs the Phillies. The 24-year-old rookie will carry a 4.26 ERA in 126.2 innings into his next start.

Sharp in seventh win Parker (7-7) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over seven innings in a 6-1 victory over the Rockies. He struck out six.
Impact The 24-year-old southpaw took a shutout into the seventh inning before Colorado finally got on the board, and Parker left the mound after 83 pitches (61 strikes) having delivered his ninth quality start of the year, including three in four August outings. His fourth trip to the mound this month resulted in a nine-run disaster against the Phillies, however. Parker will take a 4.26 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 104:32 K:BB through 122.2 innings into his next start, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Yankees.

Roughed up in loss Parker (6-7) took the loss against the Phillies on Thursday, allowing nine runs on 10 hits and two walks over three innings. He struck out six.
Impact Parker struggled out of the gate, allowing six consecutive batters to reach with one out in the first inning while coughing up two homers to put Washington in an early hole. He then went 1-2-3 through the next two frames, even striking out the side in the third, before imploding in the fourth. The lefty allowed a season-high nine runs in the contest and walked multiple batters for the fifth time in his last six starts. Parker had pitched six scoreless innings in each of his previous two starts coming in, but he's now failed to make it through four innings in three of his last six outings.

Solid in no-decision Parker didn't factor into the decision in Friday's extra-inning win over the Angels, allowing two unearned runs on eight hits over 6,1 innings. He struck out five.
Impact Both of Anaheim's runs came on a Jo Adell homer in the second inning following an errant pickoff throw that extended the frame. Parker's now gone at least six innings without allowing an earned run in back-to-back starts. The left-hander's ERA is down to 3.83 with a 1.20 WHIP and 92:29 K:BB across 112.2 innings in his rookie season. Parker's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Phillies in his next outing.

Blanks Brewers Parker (6-6) picked up the win Sunday against Milwaukee, allowing three hits and three walks with three strikeouts across six scoreless innings.
Impact Parker fired his first scoreless start since April, shutting down the Brewers to pick up his first win in eight starts. The outing avenged Parker's poor showing against Milwaukee on July 13 when he allowed five runs in two-thirds of an inning before being yanked. The rookie left-hander has struggled after logging a 3.06 ERA across his first 12 starts, stumbling to a 5.82 ERA in 38.2 innings since. He'll look to keep the ball rolling Friday against the Angels.
AUGUST 5, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
No-decision versus Arizona Parker allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Diamondbacks.
Impact Parker was unlucky to take the loss, as the Nationals had an 8-2 lead when he was relieved by Jacob Barnes. This was an improvement for Parker, who had given up at least five runs in three of his four previous starts. The southpaw is now at a 4.31 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 84:26 K:BB through 100.1 innings over 19 starts. He'll look to snap a seven-start winless skid in his next outing, which is projected to come at home versus the Brewers this weekend.

Struggles against Padres Parker (5-6) allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over three innings to take the loss versus the Padres on Wednesday.
Impact The six runs allowed were a season high for Parker, who has given up at least four runs in four of his last six starts. He struggled in his last outing before the All-Star break and labored through his three frames Wednesday as well. The rookie southpaw is now at a 4.34 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 81:24 K:BB through 95.1 innings over 18 starts this year. Outside of a modest strikeout rate (7.6 K/9), there's nothing glaringly wrong with Parker's performance, so he'll simply need to do a better job of run prevention as he works through the grind of a full major-league season. Parker's next start is projected to be at Arizona.

Tagged for five runs Parker allowed five runs on three hits and two walks over two-thirds of an inning in a no-decision Saturday at Milwaukee. He struck out two.
Impact The rookie left-hander gave up just one earned run over seven innings during his previous outing, but he was unable to make it out of the opening frame Saturday. It's the first time through 17 starts that Parker has failed to complete at least four innings, and the poor showing ballooned his ERA by nearly half a run. The 25-year-old still heads into the All-Star break with a quality 3.90 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76:19 K:BB across 92.1 innings.
JULY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Fans six in loss Parker (5-5) took the loss Monday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out six.
Impact After pitching to a 5.82 ERA across 17 innings over his last three outings, Parker looked much sharper against St. Louis, tossing his sixth quality start of the season. The Washington rookie yielded just one extra-base hit -- a 415-foot solo shot to Paul Goldschmidt in the fourth. Although the 24-year-old southpaw hasn't tallied a win since June 16, he has been a dependable starter overall with a 3.44 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 74:19 K:BB across 91.2 innings. Parker is tentatively scheduled to pitch against the Brewers on the road in his next start this weekend.

Yields five runs in no-decision Parker allowed five runs on five hits and no walks while striking out five batters in a no-decision against the Mets on Wednesday.
Impact Parker allowed only five batters to get on base, but all of those reached on an extra-base hit, and three hitters went deep against the rookie. It was just the second time through 15 starts that Parker has allowed multiple homers in an outing and the first time he's given up three long balls. The southpaw's five earned runs were a season-high mark, but he still owns a respectable 3.61 ERA through 84.2 innings.

JUNE 16, 2024 • WASHINGTONPOST.COM
Six strong innings Parker (5-3) picked up the win Sunday against Miami, allowing one earned run on six hits and zero walks while striking out four over six innings.
Impact Parker's excellent rookie season continued as he turned in another quality start, his fourth over his past six games. During that span, the southpaw has pitched to a 3.03 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP and a 25:8 K:BB across 35.2 innings. While Parker doesn't typically post high-strikeout totals, he has been remarkably consistent all season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in all 12 of his starts. He will look to keep the success going in his next start, currently scheduled for next weekend at Coors Field.
