Before being activated, Merrill played in 10 rehab games for the Padres' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate and slashed .433/.452/.700 with five extra-base hits and three stolen bases across 31 plate appearances.

Matt Beaty - Restarts rehab assignment Beaty (shoulder) resumed his rehab assignment at Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday and has gone 2-for-11 with a walk and two runs while playing in games four of the past five days.

Impact Beaty, who has been on the Padres' injured list since early May with a left shoulder impingement, is in the midst of his third separate rehab assignment following a recent two-and-a-half-week hiatus. Whenever he's finally activated from the 60-day IL, Beaty will likely handle a limited role off San Diego's bench.

Impact Canterino has been shut down at Double-A Wichita since early June with a right elbow strain, but he should be ready to rejoin the affiliate within the next couple of weeks. Prior to being deactivated, the 24-year-old turned in a 1.83 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 50:22 K:BB over 34.1 innings for Wichita.

Dylan Bundy - Done in by sixth inning Bundy (6-5) took the loss during Sunday's 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Padres, allowing three runs on four hits with three strikeouts in five-plus innings.

Impact Bundy made one mistake early that resulted in a Jurickson Profar solo home run and was in line for the win after Minnesota took the lead in the top of the sixth inning. He subsequently allowed consecutive singles before being pulled, with both runners coming around to score to give the 29-year-old the loss. Bundy targeted the strike zone early and often with 56 of 78 pitches going for strikes and a quality nine coming on swings in recording his fifth start without issuing a walk. Bundy carries a 5.04 ERA and 1.29 WHIP into his next start, scheduled to come over the weekend against Toronto.
