MRI shows very mild strain Yastrzemski underwent an MRI on Monday which revealed nothing worse than a very mild oblique strain, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Impact Yastrzemski will sit Monday against the Rockies after exiting Sunday's game with the issue, but the Giants are hopeful that he can avoid the injured list. He'll miss at least a handful of games, however, with manager Gabe Kapler suggesting he could miss five or six, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Darin Ruf will take over in right field Monday.

Impact Yastrzemski went 1-for-2 with a double, one run, one walk and a strikeout prior to his departure Sunday, but Alex Dickerson replaced him in the outfield to begin the seventh inning. It's not yet clear whether the 30-year-old will miss additional time as a result of the injury.

Aside from the power output, it has been a rough start to the season for Yastrzemski as he has struck out 28 times in 77 at-bats and is hitting a paltry .208.

Impact Yastrzemski's only out of the night came on a strikeout in the first inning. The 30-year-old was sharp at the plate thereafter and highlighted his night with an opposite-field two-run blast that just cleared the wall in left to give the Giants an early 2-1 lead in the third. Yastrzemski has had a horrendous start to the year, slashing .205/.293/.425 with three home runs, five RBI and nine runs scored while also striking out a career-worst 30.5 percent of the time. He does, however, have two multi-base hit efforts in his last four games and has been showing more life at the plate recently.

The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing just .186/.300/.419 with two homers, a stolen base, three RBI and five runs scored across 50 plate appearances this year.
