On the season, Paredes owns a 4.72 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 19:13 K:BB. It is unclear how much time the 25-year-old will miss and if it will potentially require an IL stint.

Impact Kendry Rojas got the start but worked just 2.1 innings before handing the ball to Paredes in a tandem arrangement, with neither pitcher being particularly effective. Since joining the big-league roster in late May, Paredes has managed a 4.72 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 19:13 K:BB through 34.1 innings over nine appearances (five starts). Connor Prielipp (finger) is closing in on a return from the IL to fill the fifth starter spot, but depending on how Minnesota navigates the trade deadline, there could be other openings in the rotation in August. Paredes hasn't done much to stake a claim for any vacancies, however.

Works in relief Saturday Paredes struck out four and allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk across two innings of relief in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Cubs.

Impact Paredes had started in each of his final five appearances of the first half, but the Twins elected to shift him to the bullpen coming out of the All-Star break. Minnesota still has an opening in its rotation while Connor Prielipp (finger) remains on the injured list, but the team looks as though it will go in a different direction when the fifth spot comes up again Tuesday in Cleveland. Paredes went 0-2 and turned in a 4.50 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB in 22 innings over his five starts.

Impact The right-hander's outing was split into two two-inning chunks thanks to a 53-minute rain delay, and Paredes was lifted after 81 pitches (49 strikes) having served up homers to Trent Grisham in the first inning and Ben Rice in the third to account for all the damage against him. Paredes has been taken deep five times in five starts and 22 innings since moving into the rotation while posting a 4.50 ERA and 1.36 WHIP, but he could be bumped to the bullpen or back to Triple-A St. Paul before getting another turn with Bailey Ober (elbow) currently finishing up a rehab assignment.
