Optioned to Triple-A
The Astros optioned Ullola to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
To make room for Ethan Pecko on the 26-man roster, Ullola will head back to Triple-A after recording two strikeouts in a scoreless inning of relief Tuesday against the Angels. Ullola has surrendered three runs on four hits and one walk with nine strikeouts across six innings with Houston this season.

Back with Houston
The Astros promoted Ullola from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com.
Impact
Ullola will make his third stint with the big-league club this season after being called up Sunday. In 33 appearances with Sugar Land, the 24-year-old owns a 5-4 record, 4.65 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 82:39 K:BB in 60 innings. Houston demoted Ronel Blanco to make room for Ullola in the bullpen.

Back in minors
The Astros optioned Ullola to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday.
Impact
Ullola gave up three earned runs in just one inning after getting called up Sunday, and he'll now lose his spot in the Astros' bullpen in order to make room for Hayden Wesneski's (elbow) return from the IL. Ullola owns a 4.92 ERA and 1.40 WHIP through 53 innings at Sugar Land and could make a few more appearances for Houston down the stretch as a replacement for a tired arm.

Moves up to big club
The Astros recalled Ullola from Triple-A Sugar Land prior to Sunday's game against the White Sox.
Impact
Houston demoted Kai-Wei Teng to clear a spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen for Ullola, who will join the big club for the second time this season after striking out seven over four scoreless innings in two appearances during his first stint in the majors. Ullola had earned his way back to Houston after striking out nine over 5.1 perfect innings in his last six relief outings at Sugar Land.

Sent back to minors
The Astros optioned Ullola to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday.
Impact
Ullola couldn't have fared much better in his first two big-league appearances this week, logging four scoreless frames with a 7:0 K:BB and only two hits allowed. He should get another opportunity sooner rather than later, but for now Ullola's roster spot will be absorbed by Cristian Javier (shoulder), who is due back from the injured list Friday.

Impresses in debut
Ullola pitched two scoreless innings Monday against the Twins, allowing two hits while striking out four.
Impact
It was an impressive major-league debut from the 24-year-old Ullola, who relied heavily on his fastball that averaged 95.2 MPH. After shifting to a relief role earlier this year, Ullola posted a 2.70 ERA with 16 strikeouts across 10 innings with Triple-A Sugar Land. Ullola should continue to work in lower-leverage spots for the time being, though his strikeout rate does offer some intrigue as a late-inning prospect.

Called up Sunday
The Astros recalled Ullola from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The 24-year-old right-hander will provide the Astros with a fresh arm out of the bullpen ahead of Sunday's series finale in Detroit and will be making his MLB debut if/when he gets into a game. Since signing with the Astros out of the Dominican Republic in 2021, Ullola has largely served as a starter during his time on the minors, but he made the move to the bullpen at Sugar Land in late May and produced a 2.70 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB in 10 innings across his 10 relief appearances.

Called up to Houston
Houston recalled Ullola from Triple-A Sugar Land on Saturday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Ullola will make the trip to the big leagues after being called up by Houston for the first time in his career. The 24-year-old posted a 5.48 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 64:35 K:BB in 47.2 innings for Sugar Land this season. The Astros have yet to announce a corresponding move to make room on the roster for Ullola.

Dropped from big-league camp
The Astros optioned Ullola to minor-league camp Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Ullola was added to the 40-man roster this offseason, but he was always destined for Triple-A Sugar Land to begin the season. The right-hander should open 2026 in Sugar Land's rotation, but a career 15.6 percent walk rate in the minors could point to an eventual move to the bullpen if he can't harness his control.

Joins 40-man roster
The Astros selected Ullola's contract from Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday.
Impact
The move adds Ullola to the 40-man roster and protects him from next month's Rule 5 Draft. Ullola spent the entirety of the 2025 campaign at Sugar Land, finishing with a 3.88 ERA and 131:78 K:BB over 113.2 innings. The 23-year-old will compete for an Opening Day roster spot, but a career 15.6 percent walk rate in the minors suggests more seasoning is needed.

Healthy at Triple-A
Ullola has a 2.08 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 5:1 K:BB in 4.1 innings through two starts for Triple-A Sugar Land.
Impact
Ullola was removed from his Spring Breakout appearance in mid-March with right shoulder discomfort. He made his first start for the Space Cowboys April 8 and stayed on turn for an April 13 start, although he is slowly building back up from a workload standpoint.

Dealing with sore shoulder
Ullola was removed from Friday's Spring Breakout game appearance versus the Nationals due to right shoulder discomfort, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Any type of shoulder injury is worrisome, but it's unclear at this point how much time Ullola might miss. The 22-year-old finished last season at Triple-A Sugar Land and, once healthy, will head back there to begin the 2025 campaign.

Ullola was removed from Friday's Spring Breakout game appearance versus the Nationals with an apparent injury, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Ullola was in his second inning of work when he was visited by a trainer following a strikeout and eventually walked off the mound. The Astros should have more on the right-hander condition shortly.
