Sent to Minnesota The Twins acquired Gasper from the Red Sox in exchange for Jovani Moran on Tuesday.

Impact Gasper played in his first 13 big league games during 2024, but he played in Triple-A Worcester for the most part. In his sixth year of minor league action, he had his best season yet. The catcher slashed .367/.471/.592 with eight home runs and 36 RBI across 204 plate appearances. However, in his brief time up in Boston, he was not able get a hit in 18 at-bats. The 29-year-old was able to finish the year up with the Red Sox.

Remains hitless Gasper went 0-for-2 with a walk in Sunday's 3-1 win over Tampa Bay.

Impact Gasper batted out of the eight-hole as Boston's designated hitter in Sunday's season finale, his first start since Aug. 29. Gasper showcased his vaunted plate discipline in the fourth, working a seven-pitch walk after falling behind 0-2 to Rays starter Ryan Pepiot. While he won't be confused for Mickey Mantle anytime soon, Gasper could find himself in the mix at catcher behind Connor Wong in 2025 with Danny Jansen hitting free agency. The switch-hitting Gasper finishes his rookie season 0-for-18 with four walks and one hit by pitch, adding one run scored in 13 games.

Returns to Boston The Red Sox recalled Gasper from Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Impact Gasper will serve as the roster replacement for Rafael Devers (shoulder), who landed on the 10-day IL on Saturday. The former has spent the majority of the season in the minors, slashing an impressive .328/.439/.531 with 12 homers and 58 RBI across 380 plate appearances between Double-A and Triple-A, though he doesn't project to see much playing time while in Boston.

Impact Gasper will give way to Trevor Story (shoulder) on the active roster as Story returns from the 60-day injured list. Gasper failed to log a hit in 16 plate appearances with the Red Sox but holds a 1.179 OPS at Triple-A.

Impact Gasper, 28, has slashed .341/.458/.559 with 12 home runs this season between Double-A Porland and Worcester, splitting time between catcher and first base. It would be his major-league debut, if/when he gets into a game. Gasper's presence on the roster could allow the Red Sox to use Connor Wong and Danny Jansen in the same lineup more often.
