Impact Otanez is just a few days into a 10-day shutdown period with a right shoulder impingement, so it's not a surprise he'll require an IL stint. How long that stint lasts will depend on how Otanez's shoulder responds to rest and a subsequent throwing program.

Impact The right-hander hasn't officially been ruled out for Opening Day, but he's unlikely to be available since he suffered the injury so late in camp. Otanez is expected to fill a high-leverage role in front of closer Mason Miller once healthy. Jose Leclerc and Tyler Ferguson are likely to handle setup duties in the meantime.

Impact Otanez picked up right where he left off with his high spring strikeout rate as he had a 36.4% K% last season. Unfortunately, he's also displaying his control issues as well (13.2% BB% last year). Otanez has a closer-in-waiting profile if he can ever improve his control, but even with the high walk rate he's still worth a dart in deep leagues for his 100-plus strikeout upside.

Records first win Tuesday Otanez (1-0) recorded the win over the Reds on Tuesday, firing two-thirds scoreless innings and recording a strikeout.

Impact Otanez inherited a two-on, one-out scenario from starter Mitch Spence in the sixth inning, but he prevented any damage by inducing a foul pop and strikeout from the two batters he faced. The rookie right-hander then became the pitcher of record when Oakland mounted a four-run rally in the seventh and managed to hold on for the victory. Otanez's first big-league victory came on the heels of a rough outing against the Brewers on Sunday when he allowed three runs over 1.1 innings, and he now has scoreless appearances in five of his last seven trips to the mound.
