Throws bullpen Thursday
Pineda (forearm) threw a bullpen session Thursday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Pineda was initially scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, but he was able to do so a day earlier than expected. The right-hander will progress to a simulated game in the near future and could begin a rehab assignment afterward. Pineda has been on the 10-day injured list since June 14 due to right forearm tightness, but he's been progressing well in his recovery so far. He could return to the Twins' rotation sometime in early July if he continues to trend in the right direction.

Bullpen session on tap
Pineda (forearm) played catch Sunday and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Friday, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact
The right-hander landed on the injured list with forearm inflammation June 14, and it appears he'll remain on the shelf for at least another week. Pineda could rejoin the rotation during the final week of June if Friday's bullpen session goes smoothly.

Could begin throwing
Pineda (forearm) could throw a bullpen session the next few days, manager Rocco Baldelli told MLB.com.
Impact
Pineda traveled with the team on the current road trip which may be a sign he's making progress. Pineda was removed from Sunday's game against the Astros due to right forearm tightness.

Will require trip to IL
Pineda (forearm) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Pineda suffered the injury during his last start Sunday against Houston, and the team will place him on the shelf as a precaution. Kenta Maeda was activated from the IL and will rejoin the rotation Monday, and Randy Dobnak could fill in as the fifth starter while Pineda returns to health.

Could require IL stint
Pineda (forearm) will likely miss at least one turn through the rotation, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Pineda was removed from Sunday's game against the Astros due to right forearm tightness, and manager Rocco Baldelli said after the game that the right-hander will likely require "a little break." Baldelli isn't yet sure how long the 32-year-old will need to rest, but it sounds as though the Twins will use a cautious approach to prevent a more serious issue. Randy Dobnak (finger) could be a candidate to join the rotation if his fingernail issue doesn't force him to miss additional time.

Forearm tightness resurfaces
Pineda was removed from his start Sunday against the Astros with right forearm tightness, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. He allowed three runs on six hits and...
Impact
The forearm tightness that resulted in Pineda's start last week being pushed back has re-emerged, though it's not yet clear if the issue is worse this time around, or if manager Rocco Baldelli pulled him merely as a precaution. He'll likely be further evaluated over the next day or two before the Twins make a ruling on his status for his upcoming start in Texas next weekend. Randy Dobnak came on for Pineda in relief and would likely be the top candidate to rejoin the rotation if a replacement is needed.

Tosses 4.1 frames in no-decision
Pineda did not factor in the decision in Tuesday's start against the Yankees, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out two.
Impact
After having his start pushed back two days due to forearm tightness, Pineda looked great in keeping New York off the scoreboard for four innings Tuesday. However, the Yankees got to him in the fifth, putting four straight runners on base -- two via hit and two via walk -- with one out to force the right-hander out of the contest after only 76 pitches. The good news is that Pineda seemingly came out of the contest without aggravating the forearm issue, so he should be ready to go for his next start, which is currently slated for Sunday at home versus Houston.
