Grinds for third win King (3-1) earned the win Sunday, allowing a hit and four walks over five scoreless innings against the Angels. He struck out six.
Impact King battled inconsistent control and needed 105 pitches to complete five innings but held the opposition scoreless en route to his third win of the campaign. The right-hander has won each of his past three starts and is off to an encouraging start in 2026, posting a 2.28 ERA and 1.12 WHIP across 27.2 innings (five starts). His next start is slated for the weekend on the road against the Diamondbacks.

Notches victory with quality start King (2-1) earned the win over Seattle on Tuesday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings.
Impact The only run King allowed came in the second inning. He didn't give up any extra-base hits and was able to overcome some mild wildness, as he threw a first-pitch strike to only 11 of the 25 batters he faced and notched just 49 strikes among his 85 total pitches. King has recorded a quality start and victory in each of his past two appearances, lowering his season ERA to 2.78 in the process. He's tentatively scheduled to next take the mound on the road against the Angels.

Nabs first win of season King (1-1) picked up the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over six innings in an 8-2 victory over the Pirates. He struck out four.
Impact The right-hander found himself locked in a duel with Mitch Keller and left the mound after 95 pitches (57 strikes) with the game still scoreless, but the Padres broke out for four runs in the top of the seventh while King was still the pitcher of record. The quality start was also King's first of the year in addition to the win, and he'll take a 3.24 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB through 16.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Mariners.

Allows four runs in loss King (0-1) took the loss against the Red Sox on Friday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
Impact King was charged with runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings, exiting with two outs in the sixth before an inherited runner came around to score. Despite the final line, he threw 58 of 81 pitches for strikes and walked just one batter after issuing four free passes in his March 27 debut. The 30-year-old owns an 11:5 K:BB across 10.2 innings this season after missing most of the 2025 campaign due to injury and lines up for a road matchup against the Pirates next week.
APRIL 3 • ROTOWIRE
Steady in no-decision King allowed one unearned run on one hit and four walks while striking out six over five-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers on Friday.
Impact King pitched fairly well despite throwing a modest 46 of 82 pitches for strikes in his season debut. The 30-year-old had some trouble with free passes, which is a carryover from spring training, when he walked seven batters over 17.2 innings while pitching to a 10.19 ERA. His control was fine last year with a 3.2 BB/9 over 73.1 innings across 15 regular-season starts, but he also had a 9.3 K/9 that was his worst since his 2021 campaign as a swingman with the Yankees. King battled shoulder and knee injuries late in 2025, but he looks healthy to start 2026. He is projected to make his second start of the campaign on the road in Boston.

Struggling this spring King allowed six runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out five batters over four innings in a Cactus League start against the Athletics on Friday.
Impact King notched a nice strikeout total, but he was also pounded for three homers, which came on back-to-back-to-back A's blasts in the fourth inning. The right-hander began the Cactus League slate with a fine 2.2-inning, one-run outing against the Angels, but since then he's yielded 13 earned runs on 15 hits (including five long balls) over 10 frames spanning three starts. Spring training stats rarely carry much importance, and King is locked into a rotation spot for the Padres, but a bounce-back outing before the end of the exhibition slate could be useful to reset the hurler heading into the regular season.

Impressive in first spring outing King allowed one run on two hits and no walks while striking out four batters over 2.2 innings in a Cactus League start versus the Angels on Wednesday.
Impact King dealt with multiple injuries last year and made only 15 regular-season starts, but he appears healthy this spring. The right-hander breezed through the first two innings of his Cactus League debut Wednesday, retiring the first six batters he faced before serving up a Christian Moore solo homer in the third. Overall, King was sharp, throwing 26 of his 37 pitches for strikes and inducing seven whiffs. If King can stay healthy, he'll slot in near the top of San Diego's rotation in 2026.
