Owen Caissie - Sitting against another lefty Caissie is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Impact Caissie has maintained an excellent .926 OPS through the Marlins' first nine games, but manager Clayton McCullough isn't yet ready to give the left-handed-hitting outfielder more opportunities against same-handed pitching. The 23-year-old will hit the bench for a third consecutive game while the Marlins face off against another lefty (Brandon Williamson), paving the way for Austin Slater to receive another start in right field.
APRIL 6 ROTOWIRE
Griffin Conine - On bench against lefty Conine is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Impact The left-handed-hitting Conine will take a seat for the third game in a row while the Marlins face off against a third straight lefty starter (Brandon Williamson). Heriberto Hernandez will step in for Conine in left field.
APRIL 6 ROTOWIRE
Graham Pauley - Idle against lefty again Pauley is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Impact The Marlins are facing off against a third straight left-handed starting pitcher (Brandon Williamson), so the left-handed-hitting Pauley will once again cede third base to Javier Sanoja. Despite being out of the lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Yankees, Pauley was able to come up big off the bench, delivering a two-run double in the eighth inning to give the Marlins the lead in their eventual 7-6 win.
APRIL 6 ROTOWIRE
Liam Hicks - Idle against southpaw Hicks is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Reds.
Impact Hicks has gotten off to a sizzling start to the season with a 1.164 OPS over 29 plate appearances, but the Marlins will shield the left-handed batter from southpaw Brandon Williamson in Monday's series opener. At least until the Marlins return the likes of Christopher Morel (oblique) and Kyle Stowers (hamstring) from the injured list, Hicks should have a clear path to regular at-bats versus right-handed pitching while making starts at catcher, first base or designated hitter.
APRIL 6 ROTOWIRE
Mac Heuer - Pro debut delayed Heuer is building up in extended spring training after falling behind due to arm soreness, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.
Impact As a 21-year-old who pitched the last two years in the rotation at Texas Tech, Heuer would have been assigned to Single-A or High-A if he were healthy and fully built up, but his pro debut is now to be determined. The Yankees gave Heuer a $400,000 bonus after selecting him in the eighth round last year.
APRIL 6 ROTOWIRE
Bryce Cunningham - Shelved at High-A High-A Hudson Valley placed Cunningham on the 7-day injured list April 2 due to arm soreness, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.
Impact Cunningham, the No. 53 overall pick in 2024, was excellent early last season before missing a couple months with a shoulder injury. He wasn't the same after returning and was also subpar in the Arizona Fall League (10.38 ERA in 13 innings), and the fact he is behind to start this season continues a worrying trend.
